The way energy and expressiveness of classic tango merges with modern sound here is unparalleled: elements from Louisiana's Cajun music blend with the rawness of the Balkans, French Musette meets oriental sounds; occasionally, even House bass drums or wah-wah and distortion effects on the accordion can be heard, as showcased on the album "Akrobat" (JAZZNARTS). This features, in addition to the band's compositions, three arrangements for the first time (Roger Waters' "Brain Damage," Astor Piazzolla's "Libertango," and F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Elfentanz") and is the result of an intense collaboration between three extraordinary instrumentalists.
The music of Tango Transit is powerful, delicate, melancholic, and sweat-inducing, and extremely impressive live. Jazzthing writes: "The trio plays at the highest level, everyone is a soloist... a discovery!"

This bandoneon player is celebrated by the international press as the "successor of Astor Piazzolla"; as one who has brought Tango Nuevo to a prestigious concert level without denying its original character. Thus, Omar Massa, born in Buenos Aires, brings the bandoneon back to where it is rarely heard: in the concert hall. His playing is clearly structured, rhythmically precise, and sonically differentiated – with exactly that mixture of melancholy and gentle robustness that makes the bandoneon so unmistakable. Massa's recordings have been nominated multiple times in the categories of "Composer of the Year" and "Instrumentalist of the Year," for the Opus Klassik, the prize of the German Record Critic, and the International Classical Music Awards.
Alongside him this evening is the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, an ensemble of around 15 musicians, which has continuously impressed with its openness since its founding in 1989. So let us look forward to a program that consistently rethinks tango from the tradition.

With "Tango meets Gypsy: La Vie Bohème," ORCHESTRA MONDO takes its listeners into a long-gone yet unforgettable world. In a time when nights were long and full of secrets, the streets of Paris echoed with the sound of music, and artists pursued their passion until the early morning hours. The ensemble – consisting of accordion, guitar, double bass, and percussion – musically narrates this wild, untamed life.

The four virtuoso musicians not only play Tango, Gypsy Swing, and Valse Musette – they paint soundscapes that take shape before the inner eye. ORCHESTRA MONDO tells of the dreams and wishes of this bohemian life, of the passion that resonates in every note, and of the creative souls who dance between freedom and yearning. Each piece is a story: a love letter to life, full of adventure, high flights, and deep melancholy.

The quartet masterfully brings this time to life with skilled improvisations and emotional sounds. The melodies flow like a narrative – sometimes gentle and whispering, sometimes powerful and full of energy – and take the listener on a journey into the pulsating heart of the bohemia.

Astor Piazzolla, a brilliant bandoneon player and exceptional composer, brought the tango from the suburban bars of Buenos Aires to the international concert halls, without taking away the authenticity or the soul of this dance. From the once ridiculed and despised music, he created a grand form of contemporary art. The talent and passion of guitar virtuoso Friedmann Wuttke and internationally renowned bandoneon soloist Lysandre Donoso is captivating and offers an unparalleled concert experience of classical music and tango.
