Beethoven Finale - Chorfantasie & 9. Sinfonie
Choral Fantasy & 9th Symphony
2027 IS BEETHOVEN YEAR! Of course, a very special spectacle is in order to adequately celebrate the Maestro and to come pompously: 80 singers, a large orchestra, and chief conductor Risto Joost celebrate the master of Viennese Classicism with the Ninth Symphony, his probably most famous work. It is a musical monument rich in power, brilliance, and emotion. In addition to the choir of KlangVerwaltung, the Philharmonic Choir Heilbronn will perform together with the WKO for the first time. The singing soloists are also well-known to the Heilbronn audience, such as Lenneke Ruiten, the acclaimed soprano at the New Year's Concert 2025.
Additionally, Beethoven's "Choral Fantasy" will join: a unique, powerful, almost symphonic connection of piano, orchestra, and choir that culminates in an uplifting hymn of joy and humanity. The solo part will be taken by Dongping Wang, a student of Igor Levit and winner of numerous international competitions.
To begin, Emilie Mayer's third concert overture will be heard, which links to the tradition of the classical concert overture with its clear form, energetic rhythm, and dense orchestration, while enriching it with romantic expressive intensity — a more than fitting prelude for a grand evening dedicated entirely to Beethoven.
