The Gostner Hoftheater is a private theater located in the Gostenhof district of Nuremberg. It was founded in 1979 and is operated by the association Gostner Hoftheater e.V.
The theater primarily showcases plays by young, contemporary authors, as well as modern adaptations of classics. Additionally, other theater groups from Nuremberg's independent scene have the opportunity to present their productions. The Gostner was opened in a converted toy factory as the "Theater around the corner." Just a decade later, the stage originally designed as a workshop theater was able to present its own productions with professional actors and directors. It has since established itself as the second most important theater in Nuremberg's cultural scene, alongside the Nuremberg State Theatre.
Performance Venues
The original building at Austraße 70 accommodates 82 visitors. The theater pub LOFT located in the basement of the Gostner Hoftheater offers music, cabaret, and reading evenings, and presents art exhibitions alongside Gostner's in-house productions.
The Hubertussaal at Dianastraße 28 in Nuremberg-Gibitzenhof, with its art nouveau ambiance, has a capacity of 250-300 spectators and has been an external venue for Gostner Hoftheater since 1998. Large productions as well as selected guest performances and concerts are presented there. The Theaterwerkstatt (50-60 viewers), also on Dianastraße, has a studio character and is used for smaller productions and projects by Gostner's Theater Youth Club.
