Enjoy a Nordic-inspired brunch and experience an exciting reading with the author Katrin Faludi. She presents her current novel The House at the End of the World – a moving story about family secrets, identity, and the hope for a new beginning. Participation including brunch costs 20 euros.
The Walloon-Dutch Community of Hanau and Little Finland invite you to a special literary morning on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Under the title “Finnischer Brunch & Buch”, guests can look forward to a Nordic-inspired brunch starting at 11 AM, accompanied by a reading from the author Katrin Faludi from her current novel The House at the End of the World.
“Katrin Faludi is a master of atmospheric writing. She creates an intense tension from the very beginning that runs through the entire novel. You follow her characters breathlessly, even when they are sitting still on a dock,” writes Verena Linde, author and editor at Gruner + Jahr.
The focus of the novel is on Henning, who is trying to cope with the aftermath of a serious riding accident together with his daughter Mai. When Mai suddenly disappears, Henning’s desperate search leads him to Finland, to a remote place near the Russian border where his daughter spent her earliest years. There, he discovers a long-hidden family secret that forces him to confront his own past. The journey becomes a search for identity, forgiveness, and a new beginning—a moving novel about honesty, boundaries, and transgressions as well as the hope for healing.
