Tangoball La Luz - Camila Arriva Quinteto

A historical exploration of the role of women in tango, making their work visible in a time of rupture with the tango patriarchy: The fascinating Camila Arriva Quinteto from Argentina comes with its project Mujeres (Women) to the PUC. The CAQ is tango with a gender perspective. In selecting the pieces, the life stories of the individual female composers were taken into account.

The tangos, waltzes, and milongas in their repertoire were exclusively composed, rewritten, and interpreted by women; a journey from the early twentieth century to the present with a modern sound and a style that invites dancing.

As always, for one set the "house band" ImprovisTango, led by Frank Wunderer, is heard with its full, energetic sound.
Between the live sets, DJ Anna Eliseeva enriches our dance joy with her colorful musical mix - from traditional to neo - and through her sensitive music selection, she creates a special energy on the dance floor.

The milonga takes place in the large ballroom with the finest parquet floor, piano, perfect sound system, and atmospheric ambiance. Seating is available. At the generous bar, food and various drinks are offered.

Neujahrstango mit dem Gran Orquesta de Tango Carambolage - Viajes del Tango

The bandoneon, this mysterious Saxon instrument, formed an inseparable connection with Argentine tango around 1900. It gives tango its soul. Without this instrument, tango would surely not have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage in 2009.

It is about a dance and, above all, a music full of feeling, elegance, and playful improvisation. It tells of longings, illusions, and missed opportunities. Musically expressing these little stories is one of the many talents of this great tango orchestra.

The largest tango orchestra in Europe, with 10 bandoneons plus 10 violins, piano, double bass, and tuba, hints at how energetic, fierce, complex, and dynamic tango sounded in its heyday in the 1940s in Buenos Aires. Especially the bandoneon section is the highlight of the orchestra and gives its playing a broad soul. This is how tango may have sounded once in the suburbs of tango from Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

Under the direction of Jürgen Karthe, a fixture of the local tango scene in Dresden, CARAMBOLAGE developed an original timbre inspired by classical models of Argentine tango from the 1940s, without copying them. A concert by the Gran Orquesta Carambolage is characterized by a present and intense sound. It is captivating, engaging, and at the same time soft, tender, and absolutely danceable. And you are warmly invited to dance in our ballroom! An introductory course will begin at 8 PM.

Tango Transit consists of Martin Wagner (accordion), Hanns Höhn (bass), and Andreas Neubauer (drums). Since 2008, the trio from the Frankfurt area has impressed audiences at over 700 concerts at home and abroad and released six CDs and one live DVD.
The way energy and expressiveness of classic tango merges with modern sound here is unparalleled: elements from Louisiana's Cajun music blend with the rawness of the Balkans, French Musette meets oriental sounds; occasionally, even House bass drums or wah-wah and distortion effects on the accordion can be heard, as showcased on the album "Akrobat" (JAZZNARTS). This features, in addition to the band's compositions, three arrangements for the first time (Roger Waters' "Brain Damage," Astor Piazzolla's "Libertango," and F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Elfentanz") and is the result of an intense collaboration between three extraordinary instrumentalists.
The music of Tango Transit is powerful, delicate, melancholic, and sweat-inducing, and extremely impressive live. Jazzthing writes: "The trio plays at the highest level, everyone is a soloist... a discovery!"

With "Tango meets Gypsy: La Vie Bohème," ORCHESTRA MONDO takes its listeners into a long-gone yet unforgettable world. In a time when nights were long and full of secrets, the streets of Paris echoed with the sound of music, and artists pursued their passion until the early morning hours. The ensemble – consisting of accordion, guitar, double bass, and percussion – musically narrates this wild, untamed life.

The four virtuoso musicians not only play Tango, Gypsy Swing, and Valse Musette – they paint soundscapes that take shape before the inner eye. ORCHESTRA MONDO tells of the dreams and wishes of this bohemian life, of the passion that resonates in every note, and of the creative souls who dance between freedom and yearning. Each piece is a story: a love letter to life, full of adventure, high flights, and deep melancholy.

The quartet masterfully brings this time to life with skilled improvisations and emotional sounds. The melodies flow like a narrative – sometimes gentle and whispering, sometimes powerful and full of energy – and take the listener on a journey into the pulsating heart of the bohemia.

This concert is more than just music – it is an experience that allows the audience to immerse itself in a world full of poetry, colors, and emotions.
