As the first theater, we present the novel of an extraordinary woman as a stage adaptation: In WIR SPIELEN ALLTAG, Israeli writer and peace activist Lizzie Doron tells of her daily life between Berlin and its partner city Tel Aviv since October 7, 2023. She speaks of a daily life that does not exist yet continues on, of encounters with survivors, of political discussions at the hairdresser's, gradually diminishing memorial events, and the silence on the phone with the Palestinian friend. Through short episodes from daily life, a disturbing, chaotic reality is revealed that presents an unexpected challenge for the moral compass and compassion while redefining terms such as home, friendship, and family. Each day becomes a desperate attempt to hold on to something, to preserve a dream, to remain human. In close collaboration with Lizzie Doron, the successful Israeli director Dori Engel brings the novel to the stage as a music theater piece. – Why now and in our theater? “Because the seemingly distant conflicts reach our daily lives and we are also currently called upon to continually examine and represent our values.” (Alina Gause)
“The escalating situation in the Middle East reinforces our commitment to give a voice to those behind the news — all those suffering from these terrible events on all sides — and to foster dialogue and mutual understanding.” (Director Dori Engel)
