DIE SCHWABINGER GISELA - HERR WEDEKIND KOMMT AUCH ZU WORT
A musical-literary excursion between bohemia, stage, and beer house poetry
The trio Petra Lewi, Titus Waldenfels, and Michael Reiserer embarks on a colorful journey through Munich's Schwabing bohemia. In addition to the expressionistic worlds of Frank Wedekind, the early traces of Bertolt Brecht are also reflected here – shaped by the spirit of Munich's cabaret, the wit, and the quirky world of Karl Valentin. A sound cosmos emerges between departure and irony, leading further to the legendary “Schwabinger Gisela,” a symbol of bohemia, the desire for freedom, and urban lightness.
Spoken and sung words intertwine with chanson, jazz, street songs, and sound film sounds into a multi-colored tapestry of Munich's way of life.

At the Freising folk festival, it was once important to shine with radio and film stars.
That’s why in 1973 the “Schwabinger Gisela” received her own pavilion, as she entertained stars like Kirk Douglas and Orson Welles in her Munich café.
