Songs by Hildegard of Bingen, Rebels "Les élémens" suite, Vivaldi's "La tempesta di mare," Gubaidulina's meditation on the chorale "Vor deinen Thron tret ich hiermit," Telemann's "Water Music," Saariaho's "Vers toi qui es si loin," and Rameau's "Les Boréades" suite
Viriditas – that image of an all-pervading, divine life force shaped by Hildegard of Bingen – hovers over this program like a quiet promise of growth, change, and inner movement. A bridge stretches through the elements of light, storm, and stillness – and beyond. Following the sounds of water in Debussy and the earth songs in Mahler, a musical cosmos unfolds here: Rebel, Vivaldi, Telemann, and Rameau depict nature in motion, while Gubaidulina and Saariaho listen inwardly. At the center are the songs of Hildegard of Bingen, in which creation, spirit, and sound unite. Thus, the circle closes: from nature to the soul, from the outside to the inside – and back.
