The most famous love story in the world comes to Nuremberg! During a celebration in the rock corridors below the castle, Julia and Romeo fall instantly and immortally in love with each other. Unfortunately, there is a small problem, because Romeo lives in the present and Julia 500 years earlier...

She is a patrician daughter who resides with her father in the Kucherschloss in the middle of the Nuremberg old town. Romeo, on the other hand, is the son of a construction entrepreneur who wants to tear down this property for her vision of a new Nuremberg.

Soon Romeo rebels against his mother and Julia refuses her father's plans to marry her off to someone else. The two want to escape and marry secretly. But how and where? Fortunately, there are allies who know about secret sluices that can transcend space and time. Just like the Franconian!

For this very own dialect was spoken then as it is today in "Nämberch gwaaft." This way, the lovers understand each other immediately. But, as always, when love breaks out, the language jumps into the poetic: originally translated from Shakespearean English. Freshly rhymed and rhythmically cheeky for modern ears. And when the romantic banter gets too much, Julia's nurse and Romeo's chauffeur translate the "Gschmarri" playfully into Franconian.

In “Ein Koffer voll Marlene,” he combines his well-known, glamorous homage to the legendary diva Marlene Dietrich with a touch of comedy. Alongside great emotions, wonderful insights into her eventful life, and legendary songs, laughter is certainly allowed in this show. Because no matter how glamorous a life may appear from the outside - in hindsight, many situations and relationships reveal themselves as the unintentional comedies of life.

Prima facie - legal term for "presumption of evidence"

Tessa has made it: From a working-class child to a sought-after criminal defense attorney who proudly wears her horsehair wig. Her calendar is packed. Tessa successfully defends men who stand trial for sexual assault. She boxes them out because a good defender only tells the best version of the story. "In cases of sexual assault, it’s usually one statement against another/Yes, the sexual act took place, but was it consensual?"

Her task is to find the gaps in the charges. She examines the victims' statements. Because during cross-examination, it’s usually the women on trial. And Tessa is concerned with the legal truth: She does not have to prove if the victim consented, but that he did not know there was no consent.

In the evening, it's off to the pub – with Alice and Julian – where Prosecco and tequila flow. At least when there’s something to celebrate. But caution: "A rule among lawyers is,/do not adorn yourself with victory./You could lose the very next day." But this rarely happens to Tessa; her advice is sought after among her colleagues. Julian also needs her help. In the evening, after the official work, over vodka and small talk, the two grow closer and immediately sleep together in Julian's office. Will this lead to a relationship? It almost looks that way.

The two have sex again, which they both enjoy. But then something happens that Tessa never thought possible. Julian becomes sexually aggressive. And Tessa is faced with the question of how her life should proceed now. Was it just bad sex in a heavily intoxicated state, or was it rape? "So much is at stake:/my private life,/friends,/family./My career./Everything, simply everything/That scares me." Tessa goes to the police.

She becomes a witness for the prosecution and from then on experiences the proceedings in the courtroom from the other side. The insights she gains change her perspective on things, and she concludes that the female experience of sexualized violence does not fit into any male-dominated legal system.

Suzie Miller's moving monologue premiered in Australia. In spring 2022, Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve") played the role of Tessa at the National Theatre in London. More than 300,000 viewers saw the play in cinemas through the live broadcast of the National Theatre.

The award-winning monologue by Australian author Suzie Miller premiered in Sydney in 2019 and has already celebrated successful premieres in London's West End and on Broadway. A "speakeasy," as Prohibition reigns across America, opening up a massive new field of business for organized crime. In addition, Capone owns numerous brothels, countless betting offices, gaming casinos, and has a firm grip on Chicago with his gangs. Bribery of police and city officials, brutal elimination of opponents, he is a cold businessman and yet a devout Catholic, caring family man, a colorful personality. How did this small immigrant son of Italian parents from one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York rise to the top of organized crime and become one of the richest and most influential men in America? This revue examines that, partly documentary, partly fictional, with exciting and hilarious scenes, enriched with slapstick in the style of old silent films, accompanied by a live band. There are thrilling chases, equally thrilling Charleston dance, brutal gangsters, enticing prostitutes, and then there’s Mama – Teresina Capone, who gave birth to her Alphonse in 1899 in Brooklyn. When the librettist Bruno Balz writes the classic “Does the world not come to an end” for an upcoming propaganda film in 1941, he is sitting in prison. The Gestapo had him arrested shortly before due to his homosexuality. Although his texts are extremely successful in the rendition by Zarah Leander, his name can no longer appear publicly. It wasn't until 1994 that §175 was abolished and homosexuality was no longer persecuted in Germany. Since 2001, same-sex couples have been able to enter into a registered partnership. Nevertheless, many feel increasingly insecure again. The political witch hunt against trans people in the USA, arson attacks on queer cafés in Berlin, or the numerous bans on Pride marches are just the tip of the iceberg. People who do not conform to the heterosexual norm are once again increasingly exposed to physical or verbal violence.
Looking into the past serves as a possible view into the future. In a mix of music and monologue, Bruno Balz is brought back to the stage by singer and actor Dominik Müller under the direction of Franziska Detrez. His case allows us to trace the transformation from an open society in the 1920s to the fascism of the 1930s and 40s. What insights can we draw from this for today's society? What kind of society do we want to live in?

The columnist Anette Röckl is visited by a rodent and becomes a passive house pet owner. Even though the mouse household forces order, chaos remains stable in life. A musical reading, accompanied by singer and tap dancer Julia Kempken, who makes the mouse swing, and Michael Stahl on piano. Anette Röckl presents a best-of of her Saturday NN column. With phantom Pilates and productive problem displacement, she navigates through Franconian everyday life. Cats, talking moths, and dialect excursions included. For people with and without animals, who prefer to face life with humor. Julia Kempken has swinging jazz evergreens in her bag, which she sometimes translates into Franconian, with a wink and ringing foot fitness. Live at the red piano accompanied by Michael Stahl.
Anette Röckl was born in Nuremberg and studied theater and media studies, Romance studies, and German studies in Erlangen and Florence. She learned Franconian from a young age, high German was never on her curriculum. Since 2006, she has been an editor at Nürnberger Nachrichten. So far, four books with her columns have been published: "My Pub Cat and I", "New Adventures with the Pub Cat", "Of Moths and Humans", and "My Mouse Household and I". For the Theater rote Bühne, she co-wrote the anniversary production "Romeo and Julia – Franconian Reloaded" with Christian Schidlowsky.
Julia Kempken is the director and founder of the Theater rote Bühne in Nuremberg. The actress, singer, dancer, and author currently plays the role of "the nurse" in the aforementioned anniversary production, is a member of the burlesque ensemble, and can be seen in many other productions on the "red stage" (Al Capone - a gangster revue / Boomer? So what! / No to Money! / Golden Glamour Show / A journey into Nuremberg's wild 1920s).
Michael Stahl is a music teacher, pianist, composer, keyboarder, arranger, and stage musician. After his music studies at the Nuremberg University of Music, he founded his own music school (Musikwerkstatt Pianissimo) in his hometown Roth.

As an actor at the State Theatre, he has been a well-known artistic personality in Nuremberg for many decades. In the successful production "The Legend of Georgia McBride," he was regularly met with standing ovations. Most recently, he has performed in "Orbit – Story of a Band," "This Play Goes Wrong," and "Romeo and Juliet," as well as in Schiller's "Wallenstein."

In 2016, Pius Maria Cüppers was appointed Bavarian Chamber Actor. In addition to his acting career, he is also successful as a magician. In 1997, he became World Champion in the category of Comedy Magic.

At the Theater Rote Bühne, this will now be an evening that puts our perception to a tough test! Not everything we perceive is what it actually is. Can we trust our five senses? How real is reality? What does our body language reveal? Can we really read minds? And the most important question of all: Why does one sock always disappear from the washing machine?

More specifically, the "Box Scene," in the text book p. 89 ff., in the evening, Margarete quite confused. This is the scene that the director rehearses with changing actresses.
The Diva: "For heaven's sake, getting a taxi in this dump seems to be an impossible task."
The Beginner: "Good morning, Mr. Riedel, I have… I have some difficulties with the scene."
And on the other side, directors, as all actresses know and fear.
The Freudian: "It's okay, you don't need to degrade yourself in front of me just because I'm directing here; we want to get to know each other, right?"
The Cutter: "All well and good, but it's too long, too long. That's just a waste of time."
The Man of Suffering: "Spare me all that theoretical crap; the recipient has to absorb it immediately afterward. What's important is that you have to think of it in a fleshly way."

Roman Söllner as the queer goddess from the other shore explains creation. Deal with it!

Now the creation story is finally being corrected: It wasn't he who created the world, but she – and without six days of chaos and a burnout on the seventh.

With humor and from a female perspective, the program looks at religious world history and asks how the once all-powerful goddess became a side note in theology. Between Adam, patriarchy, and loss of paradise, it becomes clear: The fall of the great goddess was not a divine plan, but a rather human power shift.

And how does the quiet birth of what would later be called “homosexuality” fit into all this? The cabaret artist continues the story of the Great Mother fearlessly – all the way to his own terrifying Hungarian grandmother. Personal, surprising and anything but pious.

The world's most famous love story is coming to Nuremberg! During a celebration in the rock corridors below the castle, Julia and Romeo fall in love instantly and immortally. Unfortunately, there is a small problem, as Romeo lives in the present and Julia 500 years earlier...

She is a patrician’s daughter residing with her father in the Kucherschloss in the middle of Nuremberg's old town. Romeo, on the other hand, is the son of a construction entrepreneur who plans to tear down this property for her vision of a new Nuremberg.

Soon, Romeo rebels against his mother, and Julia defies her father's plans to marry her off to another man. The two want to escape and marry in secret. But how and to where? Fortunately, there are allies who know of secret sluices that can overcome space and time. Just like the Franconian!

For this very own dialect was, and still is, "Nämberch gwaaft." Thus, the lovers understand each other instantly. But as always, when love breaks out, the language jumps into the poetic: originally translated from Shakespearean English. Freshly rhymed and rhythmically cheeky for today’s ears. And when the romantic banter becomes too much, Julia's nurse and Romeo's chauffeur winkingly translate the “Gschmarri” into Franconian.

A wonderfully comedic and touching tragedy across the ages, poetic and Franconian, with Renaissance dances and modern construction sites...

The two young wild ones of cabaret bring back the equally wild 1920s to the stage! And it will be surprisingly current!

The cabaret of the 1920s was young and wild. So what could be more fitting than for the two "young wild ones" of cabaret, Bernard Liebermann and Paul Heller, to bring this very era into the present and onto the cabaret stage? "War'n Sie schon mal in mich verliebt?" they have titled their program and dive headfirst into the wild 1920s: with esprit, vocal power, and a wink, the Weimar Cabaret brings the songs and texts of the Weimar Republic to the red stage.

And it will be surprisingly current: For whether it’s a frivolous couplet or biting satire – what was relevant back then often hits the mark today. It raises the question of whether the world has really changed, or is it just the gramophone that is more modern?

From Joachim Ringelnatz and the Comedian Harmonists to Kurt Tucholsky or Claire Waldoff: Bernard Liebermann and Paul Heller present sharp punchlines, melancholic comedy, and the captivating sound of an era between intoxication and ruin. A cabaret hymn to the splendor and glory of the wild 1920s.

Al Capone – Bösewicht wider Willen – eine Gangsterrevue

Chicago 1929, Al Capone returns to his favorite club "Green Mill" in Chicago after his first stint in prison. A "speakeasy," as Prohibition reigns across America, opening up a massive new field of business for organized crime. In addition, Capone owns numerous brothels, countless betting offices, gaming casinos, and has a firm grip on Chicago with his gangs. Bribery of police and city officials, brutal elimination of opponents, he is a cold businessman and yet a devout Catholic, caring family man, a colorful personality. How did this small immigrant son of Italian parents from one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York rise to the top of organized crime and become one of the richest and most influential men in America? This revue examines that, partly documentary, partly fictional, with exciting and hilarious scenes, enriched with slapstick in the style of old silent films, accompanied by a live band. There are thrilling chases, equally thrilling Charleston dance, brutal gangsters, enticing prostitutes, and then there’s Mama – Teresina Capone, who gave birth to her Alphonse in 1899 in Brooklyn. Is she perhaps the true boss? Here, the ensemble of the theater rote bühne once again shows off how jazz music, dance, acting, and comedy come together to create one of the most entertaining revues that this city has to offer.

The coquettish Gin Bijou from Hamburg is a modern beauty dancer to fall in love with. Cheeky, cheerful, feminist, and sex-positive to the core, she presents acts full of energy and shine.

Amid magnificent feather boas, sophisticated costumes, glitter, rhinestones, and garters, Lloyd Whiskey serves as the knowledgeable stage butler ensuring order, while the moderation is taken care of by La petite dame extraordinaire: Kinky Minsky.
