A pub cat and her chaotic owner: One can't open letters and gets stuck in dressing rooms, while the other's main job is shedding the sofa. Both fail at doing their taxes. Together, they navigate through the daily obstacle course. And both agree: behind every successful cat is a strong woman! Anette Röckl will read from her book "New Adventures with the Pub Cat", a best-of collection of her columns published every Saturday in the Nürnberger Nachrichten. Suitable for people with and without cats who prefer to approach life with humor. She will be musically accompanied by singer, tap dancer, and entertainer Julia Kempken, who will bring her favorite songs along. Anette Röckl was born in Nuremberg and studied theater studies, German studies, and romance languages. Since 2006, she has been an editor at the Nürnberger Nachrichten and is now their society reporter. "New Adventures with the Pub Cat" is her second book, a sequel to "My Pub Cat and I".

Julia Kempken has been based in Nuremberg since she was seven years old and founded the Tanzfabrik in 1997. In 2006, she opened the Theater rote Bühne at the same location, where she presents many musical show programs and her own theater productions that deal with the history of Nuremberg, especially focusing on the Weimar Republic era and the turmoil after 1933.

Queering the Stage - Die queere Bühne in der Metropolregion Nürnberg/Fürth

At Queering the Stage (short QTS), the theater Rote Bühne transforms for an evening into a queer space full of glitter, colors, and light, into which we are allowed to dive together. JJ Herdegen (they/-) and Cris Ortega (they/he) invite magnificent artists from near and far, who showcase through their moving performances in various formats how diverse queer art can be. Poetry Slam, queer words and contributions, music, and much more.

Everyone is welcome to write history together, to fill the queer space with light and colors, and to shape a diverse future.

For an entire season, the event series QTS, under the moderation of JJ Herdegen and Cris Ortega, fills the Rote Bühne with a total of four dates. Each time a new experience, new words, new inspirations, and many different artists.

Between comedy, thoughtful poetry, and moving storytelling, exchange, and above all, a lot of queer joy, there is something for everyone.

Stories with and for diversity are central and create a place for queer culture and solidarity, where everyone can participate, regardless of whether they are queer themselves or just interested.

Prima facie - legal term for "presumption of evidence"

Tessa has made it: From a working-class child she became a sought-after criminal defense attorney, proudly wearing her horsehair wig. Her schedule is packed. Tessa successfully defends men who stand trial for sexual assault. She boxes them out because a good defender only tells the best version of the story. "In sexual assaults, it's usually one statement against another/Yes, the sexual act took place, but was it consensual?"

Her task is to find the gaps in the indictment. She checks the victims' statements. Because in cross-examination, it's usually the women who stand alone. And for Tessa, it's about the legal truth: She does not have to prove whether the victim consented, but that he did not know that there was no consent.

In the evening, she goes to the pub - with Alice and Julian - where prosecco and tequila flow. At least when there’s something to celebrate. But beware: "One rule among lawyers is,/do not adorn yourself with victory./You could lose the very next day." But this rarely happens to Tessa; her advice is sought after among colleagues. Julian also needs her help. After official work in the evening, over vodka and small talk, they grow closer and sleep together in Julian's office. Will this become a relationship? It almost seems so.

They have sex again, which both enjoy. But then something happens that Tessa thought was impossible. Julian becomes sexually aggressive. And Tessa faces the question of how her life should continue now. Was it just bad sex in a heavily intoxicated state or was it rape? “So much is at stake:/my private life,/friends,/family./My career./Everything, just everything/That scares me.” Tessa goes to the police.

She becomes a witness for the prosecution and from now on experiences the proceedings in the courtroom from the other side. The insights she gains change her perspective on things, and she concludes that the female experience of sexualized violence does not fit into any male-dominated legal system.

Suzie Miller's stirring monologue premiered in Australia. In spring 2022, Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve") played the role of Tessa at the National Theatre in London. More than 300,000 viewers watched the play in theaters through the live broadcast from the National Theatre.

Chaotic Strings, the "founders of Franconian Dadaism" (AZ), started with Free Jazz (hence their name) and for three and a half decades have been combining virtuoso vocal acrobatics with brilliant musical and dance contributions to create an honest, straightforward mainstream Dadaism.

The absurdly profound conference is a tightrope walk between highly intellectual and absurdly silly entertainment lyrics. Music parodies and recitations do the rest to excite every listener. The polarizing provocations of the early years laid the foundation for that liberating, integrative folk art that audiences now greatly appreciate in the group.

The world's most famous love story is coming to Nuremberg! During a celebration in the rock corridors below the castle, Julia and Romeo fall in love instantly and immortally. Unfortunately, there is a small problem, as Romeo lives in the present and Julia 500 years earlier...

She is a patrician’s daughter residing with her father in the Kucherschloss in the middle of Nuremberg's old town. Romeo, on the other hand, is the son of a construction entrepreneur who plans to tear down this property for her vision of a new Nuremberg.

Soon, Romeo rebels against his mother, and Julia defies her father's plans to marry her off to another man. The two want to escape and marry in secret. But how and to where? Fortunately, there are allies who know of secret sluices that can overcome space and time. Just like the Franconian!

For this very own dialect was, and still is, "Nämberch gwaaft." Thus, the lovers understand each other instantly. But as always, when love breaks out, the language jumps into the poetic: originally translated from Shakespearean English. Freshly rhymed and rhythmically cheeky for today’s ears. And when the romantic banter becomes too much, Julia's nurse and Romeo's chauffeur winkingly translate the “Gschmarri” into Franconian.

A wonderfully comedic and touching tragedy across the ages, poetic and Franconian, with Renaissance dances and modern construction sites...

A "speakeasy," because there is Prohibition all over America, which opened up an immense new field of business for organized crime. In addition, Capone owns numerous brothels, countless betting offices, gambling casinos, and has Chicago firmly in the grip of his gangs. Bribing police and city administration, brutally eliminating opponents, he is a cold businessman and yet a strictly Catholic, caring family man, a colorful personality. How did this small son of Italian immigrant parents from one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York manage to rise to the top of organized crime and become one of the richest and most influential men in America? This revue gets to the bottom of it, partly documentary, partly fictional, with exciting and hilarious scenes, enriched with slapstick in the style of old silent films, accompanied by a live band. She is a patrician’s daughter residing with her father in the Kucherschloss in the middle of Nuremberg's old town. Romeo, on the other hand, is the son of a construction entrepreneur who plans to tear down this property for her vision of a new Nuremberg.

Soon, Romeo rebels against his mother, and Julia defies her father's plans to marry her off to another man. The two want to escape and marry in secret. But how and to where? Fortunately, there are allies who know of secret sluices that can overcome space and time. Just like the Franconian!

For this very own dialect was, and still is, "Nämberch gwaaft." Thus, the lovers understand each other instantly. But as always, when love breaks out, the language jumps into the poetic: originally translated from Shakespearean English. Freshly rhymed and rhythmically cheeky for today’s ears. And when the romantic banter becomes too much, Julia's nurse and Romeo's chauffeur winkingly translate the “Gschmarri” into Franconian.
