We bring our favorite pieces from the jazz standard repertoire from various eras to the stage, sometimes cool and relaxed, sometimes groovy and captivating, and sometimes even quite romantically as a ballad.

The name of our band reflects our rehearsal tradition – because coffee and cake are simply a must for us! Inspired by Dexter Gordon’s “Cheesecake” and Sonny Burke’s “Black Coffee,” we chose a name that expresses both our love for music and coziness.

Stomps, blues, the melodic ballads of that era, Hot Jazz from the dark Chicago speakeasies, swing tunes, the foxtrot from the ballrooms, the glamorous songs of Broadway shows, as well as the jungle fever of the Cotton Club in Harlem or even red-lit homeland songs of the Hamburg Reeperbahn... in short, the entire repertoire of the so-called Hot Jazz Age, to which the Louisiana Syncopators, a prominent 10-man (!) orchestra from the Hamburg jazz scene, are wholly dedicated. The list of musical inspirations reads like a 'Who-Is-Who' of early jazz history: Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, Jimmy Lunceford, Benny Moten, Don Redman, who with their bands were the stars of that time and today inspire the band’s own arrangers of the Louisiana Syncopators.
