J-TownSessions: Pumpkin Pulse am 10/2/2026 in Jena

For several years, "The Temporary Electronic Salon" has been taking place at various locations in Frankfurt, consistently providing electronic, improvised music for and from the moment in different configurations. Since summer 2025, it regularly features new guests as part of the program from "Die Fabrik – Kulturwerk Frankfurt". On selected occasions, the salon takes its most danceable form: live music and DJ – DER SALON TANZT! After the unforgettable evening at the club night of the jazz festival last year at MAK, this time for the same occasion with one more instrument!

Three live musicians meet two turntables – FULL HOUSE!!!

Acoustic and electronic samples inspire each other to create something much larger along the beat than the mere sum of individual ingredients. Hybrid styles, dub drums, bass lines, scratches, electric reeds, and samples ranging from art to pop – everything flows!

Pedo Knopp, the "musical world collector" alias DJ Kosmik Kat is known in the scene for his stylistic versatility and as the creative mind behind party formats and projects like LAZY, Africadelay, Saravá, Super Discoteca Tropical, or the dance tea. As a band member in the salon and guest of the club night, he brings his fine sense for global grooves, tasteful electronics, and genuine DJ craft – an evening for all who appreciate musical depth and danceable lightness.

Oliver Leicht has been fascinated by woodwind instruments and electronic effects since his school band days. It all started with a simple delay,... lay,... lay,... combined with an interest in a multitude of different musical styles, leading to collaborations and productions with ensembles as diverse as Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination & Brass, Bob Brookmeyer's New Art Orchestra, Zabriskie Point, [re:jazz], Die fantastischen Vier, and Ralf GUM... just to name a few. And today, it culminates in the open concert series "The Temporary Electronic Salon" he co-initiated – improvised electronic music for comfort, dancing, listening, watching, and enjoying --- everything flows!

Hans Glawischnig, bassist of the hr-Bigband, uses the electronic ambiance of the salon to expand his instrument through numerous effects and to create sound sculptures and loops. Long before he gained fame on the double bass with well-known stars of the jazz world like Chick Corea or as a member of the Miguel Zenon Quartet, the electric bass was his instrument – which he is happy to return to along with the salon.

Matteo Scrimali is known for his passion for seamlessly blending electronic music, jazz, and hip-hop into expressive live performances. He particularly stands out in translating complex programmed beats into a dynamic, acoustic drumming style. He employs techniques such as preparing the drums and the targeted use of effects to give his playing a distinctive, hybrid character. He can be heard alongside artists and bands such as Joy Denalane, Christian Prommer, Matias Aguayo, Henrik Schwarz, Johannes Brecht, and Max Herre.
