Élise Lounici, known as FRANK and officially as Elise FRANK starting in 2025, is a French singer, guitarist, and songwriter, born on January 1, 1996, in Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées). She began writing and composing as a teenager and evolved as the frontwoman of the band Spooky Poppies, with whom she released an EP in 2019, becoming her true artist self. She launched her solo career during the Covid crisis by transforming her cramped bedroom into a creative lab and using the street as her first stage. This time allowed her to regain access to her feelings, rediscover the sincerity of words, and explore the expressive nuances of the guitar. The result is a bold and distinctive sound that blends deep American blues with the raw energy of 1990s and 2000s garage rock. It clearly stands out from other music genres, opposing the polished aesthetics of modern productions and following a more authentic and unfiltered approach to music. In 2022, FRANK returned after a two-year break from the stage with a newly formed power trio, quickly drawing local attention. Around the same time, she began working with Cristal Production, which has since accompanied her in her artistic development. In the autumn of the same year, the artist fulfilled a childhood dream with her band and toured Ireland – an experience that reinforced her desire to present her music internationally and in places where live performances remain a central part of cultural life. Back in France, Elise, still under the name FRANK, recorded her completely self-produced debut album as a quartet with Thom Carlton on guitar, Colin Pradier on bass, and Sébastien Gaschard on drums. The album "I’m a Phony and a Fraud," released in April 2023, was enthusiastically received by both media and audiences, including a review in Rock & Folk. The album opened doors to major venues and festivals, such as the legendary Cognac Blues Passions, where Buddy Guy also performed. After a performance at Les Abattoirs de Cognac, La Sirène in La Rochelle offered her professional support, leading to solo performances and engagements in the opening acts for artists like Robert Finley, Delgres, Gaëlle Buswel, Moundrag, and Ben L'Oncle Soul. In 2024, the name FRANK gained greater recognition in the blues scene. A standout performance at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Ireland garnered significant attention. Elise consciously focused on the immediacy of live performance and improvisation rather than highly polished visual material, making authenticity her artistic principle. This approach proved successful, earning her invitations to perform at major blues festivals across Europe, including in the UK, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Poland. Her works were also published in Christophe Goffettes' "L'Encyclopedie du Rock en France." In the same year, Elise composed the original soundtrack for Targuia, a documentary by Leila de Artese Benhadj, produced by Justin Pechberty and Nabil Bellahsene for Les Valseurs. In 2025, she signed with Ruf Records and joined the artist collective On The Road Again, officially taking on the name Elise FRANK. This new chapter begins with the release of her album. The album “| Didn't Pay For It" featuring Josselin Fleury on bass, Sebastien Gaschard on drums, and guitarist Laura Chavez as a guest musician will be presented across Europe, particularly in Germany, as part of the Blues Caravan 2026.
