The Golden Voices of Gospel "The Sound of Joy", Gospel
"Clap your hands...", "stomp your feet...", "shout Hallelujah....", will be the call for the audience to participate and experience. The partly melancholic, partly exhilaratingly temperamental gospels, supported by the fantastic rhythm group, "touch the soul" like hardly any other music. And yet, these are church songs as sung in the services of the "Black Churches" in the USA and the Caribbean.
The GOLDEN VOICES OF GOSPEL invite you, in their very personal and inimitable way, on a journey through a century of spirituals, traditionals, and gospels. This music expresses, like none other, the feeling of life, the pride, and the dedication of the vast majority of the black population of the USA.
The extensive musical repertoire of these charismatic voices gives us a hint that the roots of almost all significant "modern" music genres of the last century (blues, jazz, rock, beat, etc.) trace back to gospel music. Both modern gospel pieces and songs like “Oh When The Saints,” “Glory Glory Hallelujah,” “Swing Low Sweet Chariot,” “Motherless Child,” “Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho,” “O Happy Day” invite the audience to listen and participate.
For decades, also in this country, The Golden Voices of Gospel have been a powerful institution. They have supported Michael Jackson on “Wetten, dass...?”, worked with Helene Fischer in the studio, and toured for Christmas with André Rieu – they are known from dozens of prime-time Saturday night shows. Now, The Golden Voices of Gospel present something very special for this year's celebration: Schlager meets Gospel on “Hallelujah.”
It is the marriage of two genres, a festive gathering of exceptional voices and traditions – this stylistic openness has always characterized gospel music: jazz, blues, and other modern music styles have found their way into the songs of the great gospel choirs for decades, and thus it is a consistent step to expand the sound spectrum for the first time to include German-language Schlager and Christmas classics. How moving and touching this combination sounds is proven by “Hallelujah”, the new album from The Golden Voices of Gospel, in which the renowned choir, known from various TV formats, brings together classics of its genre with Schlager feeling, interprets English-language originals in German, or presents Christmas pieces with the vocal strength of a gospel institution. Above all, what awaits one in “Hallelujah” are consistently strong emotions and festive moods...
