The new tour starting in autumn 2025
“Off on TOURLAUB!” is the motto of the new stage show by REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE. In the fourth concert program of the music comedy duo, everything revolves around the theme of vacation. “We have a vacation playlist packed with which we want to invite our audience to a two-hour short vacation,” explains Hanke Blendermann the concept.
The duo has been known throughout Germany for many years for their captivating stage show and their worldwide hits with humor - brilliantly funny song parodies guaranteed to be earworms. Whether AC/DC or Blümchen, whether ballad or rock song - Philipp Kasburg and Hanke Blendermann demonstrate musical diversity and confidently navigate through all genres with two-part arrangements and interactive entertainment. At the same time, the trained musicians present unexpectedly funny texts: The Beach Boys go “Drinking at a Lake” and Westernhagen lives “Estate-less” on the street. TOURLAUB has a lot of new material to offer, but also popular evergreens like the million-click hit “Have You Ever Tried Drinking?” will not be missing on this journey. Philipp Kasburg promises: “With us, there’s 5-star entertainment - All Inclusive. TOURLAUB is the ideal feel-good place for everyone who just wants to celebrate and laugh freely and carefree in community again.” Blendermann recommends: “Take a bath in the crowd, lay the towel on the sunbed and book your tickets today for unforgettable TOURLAUB moments!”
REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE simply belongs on stage. Because a concert by the two is considered an unforgettable event that leaves the audience happy and wishing for a repeat at the end of the evening. Why? Because they connect people through music and humor, not taking themselves or their audience too seriously, yet never becoming unfair.
About REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE
REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE is a music comedy duo from Buxtehude and Oldenburg, consisting of Hanke Blendermann (* 1987), artist name “Uncle Hanke”, and Philipp Kasburg (* 1981), artist name “Don Filippo”. They themselves describe their style as “music comedy,” elsewhere also as “music-Cabaret,” derived from the words “cover” and “music-cabaret”.
Career
Blendermann and Kasburg met in 2005 at a songwriting festival in Kevelaer. At that time, Blendermann was mainly active with his theater performance project “The Buxtehude Nonsense Symphony Orchestra,” his street music band “Jammin' Johnny and The Diskofuckers,” and also solo. Kasburg was part of the songwriting duo “Spieltrieb” and a guitarist in the reggae band “Boomrush Backup.”
In November 2011, Blendermann and Kasburg spontaneously came together for a pub night in Dortmund. This led to the idea of working together as a duo. Initially, they performed in pubs, small clubs, and at living room concerts. Due to their proximity to the singer-songwriter scene, they occasionally appeared as the opening act for the “Monsters of Liedermaching” and “Simon & Jan”.
REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE gained wider recognition after performances in the comedy format NightWash and reading tours with the biographer of the band Die Ärzte, Stefan Üblacker (The Book Ä).
Their first solo program “Vitamins for Evil Play” premiered on November 24, 2017, at Zeche Carl in Essen. In 2018, they won the NDR Comedy Contest. In 2019, they were nominated for the Prix Pantheon and participated in the 1LIVE Lecture Hall Comedy.
On October 16, 2019, their stage program “The Fittest Band in the World” premiered at Zeche Carl in Essen. In 2020, they were guests in “Olafs Klub” (MDR) and participated in the St. Ingberter Pfanne.
During the Corona lockdown, they held events via the video conferencing software Zoom. On April 9, 2020, they logged into 21 different conferences and each performed 15-minute mini-concerts. In the format “Reis-Küche,” they held interactive shows from a kitchen.
On September 29, 2022, their third program “Radio Reis – The Hit Wave” premiered. The program is strongly based on the concept of format radio and additionally satirically addresses typical elements like jingles, advertisements, traffic reports, etc., alongside numerous song parodies. Blendermann and Kasburg take on the roles of radio presenters. The program even includes an interactive part where the audience can express song requests via WhatsApp voice messages during the break, which are then played and fulfilled in the second half of the show.
On social media, they reach a million-strong audience with self-produced reels, and songs like "Scheißerei," "Ich möchte heute nicht zur Arbeit geh'n," and "Hast du Saufen mal probiert?" become viral hits. This leads to a significant German-speaking reach. (Instagram: >35k; Facebook >13k, Tiktok >16k, Youtube >9k, Spotify >360k (as of Dec 2024))
Due to the combination of live music and humorous entertainment, the duo performs in both the fields of cabaret and comedy as well as in music clubs and at rock festivals. Since 2015, they have played nearly every year at Open Flair and have been part of the line-up at Bochum Total, Werner Rennen, A Summer’s Tale, Eier mit Speck, Trebur Open Air, Elecrisize, Rock am Ring (Opening Party), and various large city festivals.
From the end of February to the end of April 2024, REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE will perform as the opening act for the group Versengold on their “Lautes Gedenken Tour 2024” through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
On May 8, 2024, they will release the parody “Hast Du Saufen mal probiert?” which they wrote to the melody of Klaus Lage’s “1000 and 1 Night (Zoom!)” together with the duo Kings of Günter, produced by Xtreme Sound Recordings. The summer hit debuted at number 1 on the German iTunes Schlager charts and reached 10 million Spotify streams within 6 months.
On 26.09.2025, their fourth full-length concert program “TOURLAUB” will premiere.
Name of the duo
The name is a reference to the American bands Rage Against The Machine and Rise Against. According to their own statements, the duo's first joint parody was an adaptation of the song “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)” by the Beastie Boys. In their version, it is called “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Rice (Basmati)”. Later, the German word “Reis” was used in the name of the duo. The term “Spülmachine” is also a combination of German and English spelling but is not explained further. The name already reflects the duo's parodic and wordplay style.
Style
Typical for REIS AGAINST THE SPÜLMACHINE is the rewriting of well-known rock and pop songs. This typically occurs in German. The starting point is usually a text passage that phonetically resembles the original text. In terms of content, they range from nonsense to everyday topics and socio-political satire. They edit whole music pieces, but sometimes medleys of different songs on a specific topic (e.g., fruit, pasta, or tea) are assembled. The songs are presented with two acoustic guitars, two-part vocals, a stompbox, and various small instruments such as harmonica, nose flute, or kazoo. A fixed component of all stage programs is Hanke Blendermann's melody play on a beer bottle, accompanied by Philipp Kasburg on the guitar.
