Boppin' B are simply the epitome of THE Hard-Working Band.
After 37 eventful years and over 6000 played concerts, after chart placements, big and small TV shows, after tours across Europe on the largest (and often also on the smallest) stages, this band of Rock’n’Roll enthusiasts still radiates an incredible energy every new day as soon as they take the stage.
Founded in 1985 as a rockabilly band for a school festival at a gymnasium in Aschaffenburg, the band soon started not to limit themselves to merely covering old songs from the 50s, and even on their first album (Bee-Bop, 1989) there are plenty of original compositions. They also began early on to expand the sometimes somewhat rigid concept of rockabilly to include other stylistic influences.
In 2004, they managed to enter the German Top 100 charts for the first time with the Sasha cover album “Bop Around The Pop” and the singles “If You Believe” and “We Can Leave The World” that were extracted from it. The band repeated this success with their latest, currently active, 14th album “We Don’t Care,” released in February 2020 (just before the pandemic), this time with predominantly original material.
Throughout the years, the band has impressively survived five (!) personnel changes at the microphone (and with Michi Bock since 2018 being THE ideal fit for this position in their ranks), but with the onset of the pandemic and the ensuing circumstances (performance stoppage, initial loss of income), the departure of the saxophonist Frank Seefeldt (who has been with Boppin' B since 1988) seemed imminent.
By the twist of not replacing the position 1:1, but rather performing concerts in the future with varying saxophonists, Frank did not have to leave the band completely, but will share the job with two other great musicians in the future: Gregor Obermeier (“Music Monks”) and Sven Garrecht (who is also touring as a cabaret artist in German-speaking Europe).
Boppin' B faced the pandemic-induced restrictions of the past two years with a series of great streaming concerts from their home rehearsal space and the recording of a new album (which focuses primarily on the three saxophonists), expected to be released later this year.
The journey of the Rock'n'Roll band Boppin' B continues with undiminished energy, and once again, the indestructible bard Neil Young is right when he sings: “Hey hey, my my, Rock'n'Roll can never die.”
