“GUNDERMANN,” the directorial work of Andreas Dresen, became an arthouse hit and was adorned with 6 LOLAs, the German Film Award. A film that was consistently praised by the media, deeply moving, with a soundtrack that gets under your skin. As the lead actor, Alexander Scheer was awarded the Bavarian Film Award and the LOLA for his role. A versatile singer and musician in his own right, he received the German Record Critics’ Award for his interpretation of the songs in the feature film, thus, incidentally, climbing to a spot among the Top 20 of the German album charts.
Scheer, who already fascinated as Keith Richards in the feature film “Das wilde Leben” and thrilled as David Bowie at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, deeply immerses himself in the cosmos and songs of Gerhard Gundermann. He explores them, unfolds an almost magical intensity “with everything he has,” and gives it back in full force.
A band was specifically formed for the film premiere, not knowing that it would evolve into a band project that is now a concert highlight and festival event with a rapidly growing audience across Germany. Meanwhile, the first live album “Immer wieder Nie Genug” is among the people, attesting to the fact that they do not remain stagnant but develop enough material to delightfully expand the repertoire.
