THE VS-BERLINER RETURNS TO KATZENSTÜBLE WITH HIS PROGRAM “SCHLAGER GEMS OF THE GERMAN ECONOMIC MIRACLE YEARS”
At the end of 2014, the legendary Villinger cult band “Cock’s Combo” retired after 35 years. Dieter Hahne – founder, namesake, and boss of this popular band – assumed that he would never again actively perform on a Villingen stage. However, he was mistaken! For in early September 2025, he – who has been living in Berlin for decades – made a spectacular stage comeback in his hometown Villingen at Katzenstüble “Zur hoorige Katz”. Shortly after the announcement, the two scheduled concerts were completely sold out, the atmosphere in the audience was euphoric, and the performed program of German Economic Miracle Schlager hit like a bomb! This grand success called for a repeat, and this new edition will take place on May 8 and 9, 2026 – and of course, it will be back at Katzenstüble “Zur hoorige Katz”!
After Dieter Hahne had guitar lessons in the early 1960s from the busy kattenmusic actor Rudi Streit (he is the author of the kattenmusic song “Der Kater hält die Wacht”), he also taught him the first – at that time current – Schlager. But one day, Hahne set aside the classical guitar school and instead of studies or Schlager, he played Beatles and Rolling Stones songs, and shortly thereafter founded one of the first Villingen Beat bands with two classmates. More would follow. The most popular were “The Be Nice” and “The Rope Sect”. At the same time, Hahne was involved with the jazz club and later became the manager of the jazz cellar in Webergasse. Concurrently, he became an employee at the legendary jazz record label MPS Records. In 1975, he moved to Berlin and took a position at the jazz label FMP/Free Music Production. After several years of retirement, he resumed activities at Free Music Production, which continues to this day. Also in Berlin, Hahne played guitar or bass in rock groups – most recently in “Rumble Pie” and “Vintage Two”.
So how did it come to rediscover the Economic Miracle Schlager after so many years of rock and jazz?
In the spring of 2024, Hahne had a private performance in Brandenburg's Rheinsberg. A program with rock and pop oldies from the 1960s/1970s was planned. But just before the performance, he spontaneously decided to present old Schlager hits from the German Economic Miracle years. And this program struck a chord with the audience. It was a huge success! A little later, the first public performance with the “olden clothes” followed at the Kreuzberg neighborhood pub “Henkel-Stuben” – this performance was also crowned with success. Since then, Hahne has been touring through Berlin pubs and bars with the Economic Miracle Schlager.
And what can the audience expect in Katzenstüble?
The audience can look forward to Schlager high-caliber stars of the German Economic Miracle years such as Vico Torriani, Peter Hinnen, Danyel Gerard, Gus Backus, Freddy Quinn, Catarina Valente, Bill Ramsey, Billy Mo, Drafi Deutscher, Rex Gildo, Rocco Granata, Conny Froboess, Manuela, Conny Francis, and many more…!
As usual, “Dieter Hahne alias The Cock” manages to capture the spirit of the time – with a humorous wink and a healthy dose of self-irony.
In addition, there will be handpicked Anglo-American rock and pop oldies from that time.
Free entry – The hat will be passed around!
Reservations are welcomed by the cat musicians, the team of Katzenstüble “Zur hoorige Katz”, and of course Dieter Hahne: https://katzenmusik-villingen.de/zurhoorigekatz/ or https:/qrcode.appack.de/katzenmusik-villingen
