Maxi Pongratz & Matthias Pürner - Akkordeon & Song-Poetik
What happens when Matthias Pürner, the ziach virtuoso, and Maxi Pongratz, the poet on accordion, guitar, and piano, create an evening together? There is no definitive answer yet – as this concert is a premiere. For the first time, the two musicians, who individually go completely new artistic ways, will perform not only separately but also together in one evening.
Under the motto "The Styrian Harmonica – thought differently," Matthias Pürner presents his solo program GLEICH_TOENE. He unfolds a multifaceted concert evening centered around the traditional Styrian harmonica, yet opens itself to unusual influences. Live-used loop stations transform short musical ideas into dense soundscapes and pulsating grooves, leading to arrangements that convey the impression of an entire band. Despite this experimental eagerness, Pürner's strong connection to the folk musical roots of his instrument remains audible. With his unique sound, he performs not only in Germany and Austria but has already been a guest internationally.
And then Maxi Pongratz takes the audience on a musical-poetic journey. The musician, poet, and author, known from the German cabaret scene and his long-standing work with the band Kofelgschroa, addresses big questions in his solo project rum&num (the name of his current solo CD) – about identity, homeland, and the language of music. With a humorous perspective, profound texts, and a distinctive accordion style, Pongratz navigates between tradition and avant-garde, between tavern music, Dadaism, and poetry. For his current work, he was awarded first place and the audience award at the renowned Passauer Scharfrichterbeil in December 2025.
