Flying Circus was founded in 1990 in Grevenbroich and connects the worlds of Hard Rock and Progressive Rock.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the band celebrated simultaneously with the release of the fourth album, "Forth" in its box set version "Back & Forth" additionally includes the bonus CD "Back," featuring re-recordings of some early works that had not been released at that time.

After Ande Roderigo (drums) and Rüdiger Blömer (keys, violin) joined the band in 2011 and 2012, the first release in a completely revamped lineup came in 2013 with the EP "Ones and Zeros." In 2016, "Starlight Clearing," the fifth album by Flying Circus, was released – a concept work about a fictional band from the late 1960s. This release was supplemented by the live CD/DVD package "25 LIVE" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the band.

In 2022, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the debut album, a complete re-recording of this work was released under the name "Seasons."

Two other limited live albums from 2022 and 2023 are now completely sold out (1,000 copies of "A Live History" and 2,500 copies of the album "Live im Roten Krokodil," which is still available on DVD). However, the live album "On Tour" from 2024 is still available through a Pay-What-You-Want model on the official website.

On November 7, 2025, the band's third concept work "The Eternal Moment" was finally released in three different editions. This album is currently the only studio album by Flying Circus that is exclusively available on physical media and is not offered on streaming platforms.
