Wenzel & Band - Die Zeit der Irren und Idioten
In the gray morning hours, between doubts and fatigue, the songs find their final form. The world is out of joint. At the damaged spots of our hope, melodies and words seek the right place. Songs carried by gentle and determined tones of guitars, bass, accordion, brass instruments, drums, and piano play to dance in the irreplaceable hours of the concerts. Celebrating life as a victory against the destructive, against wars and demagogy. Music is a loyal companion in this.
Wenzel remains true to himself and cares neither for pigeonholes nor fashionable attitudes. His work draws from an almost inexhaustible source. In recent years, Wenzel has surprised with many CD productions. New, unpublished songs, settings of Johannes R. Becher, Christoph Hein, Theodor Kramer, Woody Guthrie. Melancholic, exuberant, subversive, warm-hearted, cynical, intricate, and direct. Meanwhile, Wenzel remains a refugee from the demands of the world. With bittersweet irony, he defies the rough seas. A lover who has never loved halfway and has never played softly with his fool's bells, one who dishes out and takes in with full ladles, a wise man on whose ark the eternal pairs embrace: happiness and anger, love and time, flight and shelter, moment and epoch. First and last day. Wenzel is an author, composer, musician, singer, actor, and director. Tours have taken him through France, Austria, America, Nicaragua, Cuba, Turkey, among others. Wenzel has endured honors from the GOLDEN AMIGA, the Heinrich Heine Prize, the German Small Arts Prize, the Prize of the German Record Critics, as well as the Prize of the Best Songs List.
