STRANGE KIND OF WOMEN - European Purple Women Tour 2026
The only all-female Deep Purple tribute band Strange Kind Of Women from Udine, Italy, will come to Losheim am See at the Eisenbahnhalle on March 28, 2026, as part of their "European Purple Women Tour"! The band "Strange Kind Of Women – The Classic Deep Purple Years," consisting of five girls, plays in a league of its own. They rock like hell and are as fiery as a spewing volcano. Every Deep Purple fan knows "Made in Japan"... but "Made in Italy"? For many followers, the Deep Purple double live album "Made In Japan" is still the highlight among the many releases of the band and is considered a milestone in the history of hard rock and heavy metal. In the meantime, the famous concert recording is half a century old.
The band "Strange Kind Of Women," founded by Italian guitarist Eliana Cargnelutti, brings the songs of this legendary album to the stage faithfully and with a breathtaking show. They present the Deep Purple songs not only in the most charming way but also interpret the pieces with so much joy and power that many of their male colleagues pale in comparison. The program features all "Made In Japan" classics like "Child In Time," "Smoke On The Water," "Strange Kind Of Women," "Highway Star," and "Space Truckin'," delivered with a bombastic sound. The well over two-hour stage performance, with its passionate, energetic temperament, gives an authentic impression of the work of the rock icons.
Only a few tribute bands manage to truly come close to their idols in show and sound. This caught the attention of Ian Paice, the legendary drummer of Deep Purple and the only remaining founding member of Deep Purple, who was so impressed that he even played at a joint concert in Graz with them. He said afterward: "It is really fun to play with them. They do a really great job, have a fantastic sound, and give it their all. I really enjoyed playing with them." The lineup of "Strange Kind Of Women – The Classic Deep Purple Years" consists of five professional, internationally active female musicians. The frontwomen are admired and renowned in Italy: Alteria, known as the singer of her own alternative rock band "Alteria," and guitarist Eliana Cargnelutti, the new hope of Italian blues rock. They are accompanied by Chiara Cotugno on drums, Margherita Gruden on keyboards, and Elettra Pizzale on bass.
