The insane plan to let AI do all the work this time has failed. In the end, HGich.T had to get involved again. Luckily! “Lenovobeach,” the eighth studio album of the Hamburg music collective, sounds like the tender embrace of a stoned mother. “Yes, Boss. Thanks for everything,” it says on “Lenovobeach,” and with that, almost everything is said. The idea of letting ChatGPT handle all the text and soundwork this season and gradually replace the whole band with avatars was well-intentioned (keyword: work-life balance), but in the end, DJ Hundefriedhof, Tutenchamun, Dr. Geilser, Nora Hardstyle, Katze Cozy, DJ Balmi, the beautiful Maike, Fosserill, 12Fingermann, Professor Sus- pect, Opa16, and the rest of the cuddly gang preferred to ensure themselves that even 14 years after the release of the mega-hit "Hauptschuhle," the hammer hits like twenty Buzkashi whips. Mission: completed. “What the AI threw together sounded slick, calculating, and overly aestheticized, we could've just asked Maik Forster or whatever his name is,” summarizes Dr. Geilser exhausted. “We have been forming a small exotic island for decades beyond filters, self-optimization mania, and 21st-century perfectionism for a reason.” And it should remain so: “Lenovobeach” was produced with much love over seven magical nights in a Portuguese beach cave and entices with life-affirming rave anthems (“Geistig am Start”), ecstatic stomp announcements (“UDO”), disturbing cuddle hits (“Merci Cherie”), socially critical bangers (“Saufe”), and the new summer hit “Lenovobeach,” which is already playing up and down in the “Pascha.” Robust and timeless like an old Lenovo, the keyboard ballad “Die schwarze Gitarre” comes along in a danceable Count von Count style. The lyrics come from an old diary of Dr. Geilser. The highlight of the new album is a hymn of praise to an important everyday object: the “Adapter,” which has inspired not only radio stations but also “Die Gebrüder Brett” to create a fat remix. Listening tip: “Geistig am Start” hypnotizes with sweet operatic singing (Nora Hardstyle), Portuguese chants, and disturbing melodic vibes reminiscent of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, served on a hammer-hard Hundefriedhof-style board that is unmatched. Message: “We are the underdogs, we are the Mayday, we dance in the matrix, mentally on point. At the keyboard and mic (including “Adapter”), shines a lost son: Fosserill is back! For years, the quirky second-rate stand-in for the great Vhagvam Swami was lost in Bear Country, occasionally serving as his prompter. Now “Fossi-Bear” can step out of the shadow of the grand master, who is currently enjoying his maternity leave. “Those at HGich.T always had such cheesy feet. But now it's better. So, I'm back. And it's really fun,” says Fosserill via ICQ. Tutenchamun is also growing with his responsibilities: “After twenty years, I can finally recite Hauptschuhle by heart,” rejoices the endearingly scatterbrained frontman. Hats off! The conclusion of the press so far: “Goa, neon and a hearty dose of trash (...) HGich.T – the loose bunch of performance artists, musicians, and freaks – celebrates life, love, and maybe even art (...) and tinkers in trashy attire on the booming keyboard of bad taste,” recently exclaimed the Saarbrücker Zeitung.
