Schwanensee - Royal Classical Ballet
The high art of ballet is still celebrated around the world. "Royal Classical Ballet" provides a magical taste of this.
Swan Lake - Swan Lake again
Classical ballet - what do you think of first? In nine out of ten cases, the image that comes to mind is that of a delicate dancer in a white shimmering tutu, her face framed by white feathers. Add to that a noble prince who falls in love with the dream creature... Unknowingly, and yet always the same image from Swan Lake. This one performance embodies what many consider to be classical ballet - then as now.
With over 100 years of unchallenged popularity among international audiences, Swan Lake is one of the most beloved works in the classical ballet repertoire! A masterpiece of its genre. After Swan Lake, one can become addicted. "Those who do not know Swan Lake cannot understand ballet." say ballet critics.
"It is a love that nobody should be ashamed of, because nowhere else has classical ballet reached such artistic perfection as in this neo-romantic choreography by Lev Ivanov" (Horst Koegler).
It applies to ballet in general and to Swan Lake in particular: love and longing, loneliness and jealousy, anger, pain, and happiness - all these intense feelings are portrayed with the body language as fervently and disproportionately as one would never believe with spoken words. "If I could express with words what I feel, I wouldn't need to dance." This is how the famous Margot Fonteyn summed it up in a few words.
In the finest traditional ballet language, the ballet tells the story of Prince Siegfried, Princess Odette, and the sorcerer Rothbart, of longing, loneliness, jealousy, anger, pain, happiness, and above all, of the victory of love over evil.
The story of the Swan Princess Odette is known all over the world:
A young prince must marry to preserve the dynasty. However, Prince Siegfried unfortunately does not fall in love with any of the intended young ladies, but with a charming foreign girl to whom he swears eternal loyalty. The beautiful Odette, however, is under an evil spell and can only assume human form for a few hours at night. The sorcerer Rothbart then has his own daughter appear in the guise of Odette at a lavish feast in the castle to deceive the prince. The deluded prince unintentionally breaks his vow of loyalty. When he realizes this, he asks for forgiveness, which is granted to him. In the end, he even defeats the evil sorcerer himself, so that the triumph of love becomes complete.
For young and old, it is a welcome opportunity to experience the unique perfection of ballet and effortlessly access the enchanting world of ballet.
With a floating lightness and elegance, the ballet dancers make you forget the precise work and athletic rigor behind the performance. With precise wing beats, Royal Classical Ballet transports you into a world of weightlessness and poetry.
