Since 2018, "Club 74 Reloaded" catapults you back to a time when lovers of good rock music in the region could enjoy it multiple times a week. We regularly resurrect the legendary discotheque for you – with an event series that has long since written its own history. Whether you were there back then or not – for fans of good rock and alternative music, we bring just the right thing to the dance floor and take you on a journey through music history: from the beat of the 60s through hard and progressive rock of the 70s, new wave of the 80s, and alternative of the 90s to the rock and indie sounds of our days.

The focus is on the many Club 74 classics, long-missed treasures, harder stuff, and selected newer songs that are musically in the tradition of Club 74 – yet were never heard there.

Your hosts are always on board: DJ Bjoern, who shaped the sound of Club 74 from 1991 to 1999 and was later active for years at Busters Workshop, as well as DJ Bjørn (Club 74 DJ from 2002 to 2004), known from "Neon Club" and "The Green Empire", a kind of precursor event to "Club 74 Reloaded".

Come by if you want to celebrate joyfully to music off the mainstream again. And for all those for whom "The Club" was once a second home on weekends, there’s the opportunity to see familiar faces again, reminisce together, and – framed by a decoration that brings the old club back to life – to regain a piece of Club 74 feeling for one night.

Short history of the cult discotheque Club 74:

The small town of Waldems-Esch is also called the gateway to the Golden Ground. For many, however, it was for a long time above all one thing: the gateway to unconventional music off the beaten path.
When "Club 74" opened its doors on March 8, 1974, as one of many discotheques of that time, no one would have thought that this would be the beginning of a nearly 33-year history. Initially housed in the old hall building of the "Zur Krone" inn, Club 74 quickly captured a diverse audience. Here, everyone celebrated together: visitors of all generations – from teenagers to those well over 60 – many more people from the region and beyond, as well as representatives of various subcultures – hippies, metalheads, punks, and darkwavers, as well as students and members of the still numerous US Armed Forces in the Rhine-Main area.

"The Club," as it was colloquially called, established itself as a regional to a nationwide institution. Key co-founder and later sole operator Hans Sedlak († 2017), the staff, and especially the crowds of DJs, the special audience, and the expressive dance style of many "club-goers," made Club 74 a legendary, almost magical place for many. There was no dress code or fear of embarrassing oneself on the dance floor – whether barefoot or in high heels, at the club, people celebrated, danced, and turned night into day together.

Even the FAZ recognized in May 1990: "The secret center of the world is anyway Club 74 in Waldems-Esch."

The move on December 25, 1994, from the distinctive, Western-style designed dance hall to the more functional premises in the industrial area, which some regular guests found less atmospheric, represented a first rupture for some traditionalists. Nevertheless, another 12 years of club history were written afterwards, and on the wrought-iron-framed dance floor, feet were danced sore.

When Club 74 closed its doors forever on December 26, 2006, it was for many the end of an era.

Fancy beloved evergreens, long-forgotten treasures, and current favorite songs? How about occasionally trashy 90s Eurodance and 2000s hip-hop, indie dance, pop, rock, and club classics?
Then you are in the right place at the "Neon Club"!

Checkered shirts meet shoulder pads, platform shoes meet neon leg warmers, and mullets meet undercuts. The "Neon Club" combines music from over four decades into a turbulent soundtrack for the dance floor.

From Mr. Vain to Blue (Da Ba Dee), from Nirvana to Daft Punk, from Blur to Rihanna, from Faithless to The Black Eyed Peas – along with great sing-along hits, long-forgotten tracks, and current songs. DJ Bjørn ensures the surprising breaks and musical discoveries that you wouldn't necessarily expect at an ordinary decades party.
