Mexican jazz guitarist Hugo Fernández and his band present a tribute to the composers who shaped the unmistakable “New Orleans sound”. Accompanied by world-class musicians, he celebrates iconic figures and pioneers who are widely known among jazz lovers, such as Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton. Lesser known but equally influential talents are also played by the band, including Ellis Marsalis, Alvin Batiste, James Black and groups such as Galactic and The Funky Meters. Backed by his Berlin quintet, Fernández honors the rich musical heritage of New Orleans with a lively and respectful interpretation of its roots.
