KNAPPE SAGT TSCHAU 2025
Cologne, 07.16.2024 – After six album releases, including two Top Ten albums, a total of over 70 million streams, and more than 1,000 performances and concerts, Alexander Knappe is ending his career and saying farewell to his fans in February 2025 with one last big tour.
“There was never really a Plan B. I’ve always just looked forward, to the next album, the next tour. I’ve lived my dream, even if life as a musician isn’t always as dreamy as it seems.” It is this restlessness, in particular, that ultimately leads him to the decision to end his active career. Because for Alexander Knappe, singing is more than just talent, more than a craft, more than a job; it is always an expression of a deep inner necessity. “At some point, I felt that my expectations were sometimes too exhausting for myself,” he says with a smile, “Always 150 percent, always as if it were the last day, the last time, as if it were always a matter of damn survival.”
Why he is considered one of the best German ballad singers and what happens when vocal range meets emotional depth has been impressively demonstrated by Knappe over the 20 years of his career. On the "Musik An. Welt Aus." tour he organized, with a band and a 40-piece symphony orchestra, in sold-out venues and with captivating band performances, as the support act for Norwegian superstars a-ha, and in countless shows where he touched the hearts of his fans in small to very large formats.
His singles have ranked in the Top 100 of the airplay and sales charts, served as the soundtrack for countless marriage proposals and weddings, and even the German Bundestag used the title “Weil ich wieder zuhause bin” for a permanent multimedia large-screen projection in the government district.
Even off stage, Alexander Knappe rarely took time off. He used his reach with great commitment for social projects and initiatives, whether as the initiator of the open-air music festival “Liebe kennt keine Liga” for the benefit of the youth sector of FC Energie Cottbus or as the founder of the initiative “Ich zieh mein' Hut” for children with cancer. In total, he raised over a quarter of a million euros in donations.
With titles like “Sing mich nach Hause,” “Sag’ dass Du,” “Bis meine Welt die Augen schließt,” “Du,” or “Alles geht vorbei,” Knappe has given his fans great moments filled with emotions and lasting memories. Now Knappe has arrived at a point where a new chapter must begin, and in the end, one thing matters most to him:
“I am infinitely grateful for all the unforgettable moments I got to experience with my fans.”
Or, to say it with a Knappe song: Wonderful years.
