"The Commoners find common ground in the classic rock of Free and Led Zeppelin, and the Southern flavorings of Black Crowes and Blackberry Smoke, by combining tasty riffs and soul-tinged vocals."
- R’N’R Magazine

Possessing a sound drawn from the deep, oaken belly of a whiskey barrel, The Commoners are a five-piece roots/blues Rock outfit hailing from Toronto, Canada. They offer a unique blend of tried and true musical elements, infusing their sound with high-energy riffs, soulful vocals, and rich harmonies that collectively transport the listener on a journey through an authentic Southern-style rock experience.

“The Black Crowes are a big influence for us. Derek Trucks, Marcus King, and the Allman Brothers, of course. These are the bands that we wear on our sleeves as we aspire to create our own music.” – Chris Medhurst

Channeling their deep respect and admiration for roots/rock trailblazers, The Commoners incorporate rhythmic stylings inspired by Motown’s groove masters and emotive vocals akin to Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, capturing a sound that is very much of the here and now. Their 2022 release, "Find A Better Way," is an album that demands attention from the first note. The opening lines “If I scream at the top of my lungs and stamp my feet ’til the floor comes undone” immediately inform that a wild ride lies ahead. Recorded in Toronto at RHC Music and produced by guitarist/producer Ross Hayes Citrullo alongside executive producer Renan Yildizdogan of Gypsy Soul Records, The Commoners crafted a sound that strikes the perfect balance between new and old, fresh yet familiar.

The band’s debut full-length album received widespread critical acclaim. The band´s three singles from the album made their mark on UK rock radio, enjoying heavy rotation for over six months, as well as receiving rave reviews from major publications around the world. This achievement led to the band´s first UK tour, spanning 15 cities. They further extended their reach with a 32-city tour across the EU, covering seven countries.

Having wrapped up a bustling 2023 filled with recording sessions and a UK tour alongside Grammy-nominated duo Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton, The Commoners have solidified their position as a must-watch act. The release of "Restless" will mark the quintet’s return to the road in 2024, with a number of tours and festivals in the UK and EU, including Maid of Stone, Steel House, and Moulin Blues Festivals, already scheduled for this summer. From the speakers to the stage, one thing is certain: The Commoners are spearheading a party rock renaissance, and the audience is cordially invited.
