Torfrock - Bagaluten-Wiehnacht - 49 Jahre Torfrock
Torfrock has been a staple in the German-speaking rock scene for almost five decades and represents Northern German humor, distinctiveness, and musical consistency like hardly any other band.
With their unmistakable "Gebrauchsrock," a mix of rock, folk, blues, punk, and cheeky boogie, they have cultivated a loyal fan base and created a unique cosmos: centered around Torfmoorholm, Haithabu, Vikings, Wernersens, and all the lovable, beer-loving characters that populate their songs. The current lineup connects history and the present: co-founder Klaus Büchner continues to shape the band's sound and voice, together with Volker Schmidt, Stefan Lehmann, and Sven Berger. Together, they give the classic Torfrock sound a fresh, powerful groove, without losing sight of their roots—authentic, direct, and with typical Northern German composure.
When asked why a celebration should be limited to just one year, the response from Torfrock is accordingly down-to-earth: Why be brief when you can be extensive? In 2026, Torfrock will reach the 49th year of their band history: and thus begins the great warm-up for what follows in 2027: 50 years of Torfrock. Instead of waiting quietly for the milestone birthday, the Torfmoorholm-based Gebrauchsrockers are celebrating for two years: warming up in the 49th year, full throttle in the 50th. With unbroken joy of playing, Northern German stubbornness, and plenty of humor, they continue to take to stages and festivals.
In addition to numerous concerts, there are also established highlights on the calendar, foremost the cult series "Bagaluten-Wiehnacht." At the same time, musically, the course is already set for the big stage anniversary, with 49 years of live experience, fresh arrangements of well-known classics, and plenty of energy. Torfrock concerts remain above all one thing: a big, peaceful, and cheerful party for all generations. 49 years are just the beginning, the anniversary is warming up, heading for 50. TORFROCK, Gebrauchsrock for almost five decades.
