The Music Of Genesis
Genesis has always been an expression of intellectual seriousness and professionalism. "The Music of Genesis" will live up to that: The compilation of a program from the albums of the years 1976 – 1980 is not coincidental – an analysis of the tracks shows a continuous musical development that reaches its peak and conclusion with "Duke." Being able to call themselves THE MUSIC OF GENESIS corresponds to the musical claim: The musicians aim for authentic reproductions without playing sterilely: here, tracks are performed live that have never been played before: an absolute pleasure for every true Genesis fan.
The story of "The Music of Genesis" began some time ago: Already in 2007, musicians came together to present the music of Genesis as part of their final projects at the Hanover University of Music and Theatre. Although the recordings of the formation called "The Farm" went viral back then, the musicians already had all other commitments... Many years later, a producer, who is also a devoted fan of Genesis, sought musicians with whom it might be possible to honor the genius of Genesis. He came across the recordings of "The Farm" and was impressed. He then reached out and brought the musicians back together for the first time in 2019 – and lo and behold: the old chemistry was still there. Musically matured, the friends are now ready to meet the claim of being "The Music of Genesis" – with the approval of Tony Smith, manager of Genesis and Phil Collins.
THE BAND
Markus "Elmar" Ferner / Vocals:
First became aware of Genesis with the LP "Invisible Touch." Began playing keyboards autodidactically at 12, formed his first band with friends at the age of 19. From 2000 to 2012, keyboardist in the Top40 band "Finity," mainly performing in the north. In 2007 met the wonderful colleagues for Jochen's diploma concert. In 2011 founded the first German a-ha tribute band. Since then active throughout Germany. From 2012, involved in acting in a local musical project. From 2012 to 2017 produced weekly nonstop mixes for an internet radio. Since 2017 a permanent member of the orchestra of the Waldbühne Kloster Oesede.
Jochen Pietsch / Keyboard:
Jochen started playing the keyboard at the age of eight. As a teenager, he worked as a church organist and played and arranged in the school big band and musical productions. From 2002-2007, he studied Music Education Jazz/Rock/Pop at the Hanover University of Music and Theatre (today's Hanover University of Music, Theatre and Media) and graduated with a diploma. As a keyboardist and musical director, he has worked for the Shakespeare musicals "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Tempest," and "As You Like It" by Heinz Rudolph Kunze and Heiner Lürig, at the Theater für Niedersachsen (including Footloose, Avenue Q, Company, Shockheaded Peter) and "Motown – The Legend," and has written crossover orchestral arrangements for, among others, Queensberry, Clowns und Helden, and Ayman. With his gospel ensemble "The Living Gospel Choir," he has collaborated with Peter Maffay and Marquess and performed for approximately 90,000 attendees during the papal visit in 2011 in Etzelsbach. Jochen teaches pop piano at the Hanover University of Music, Theatre and Media as well as at the music school Ostkreis Hannover.
Niklas Turmann / Guitar:
Since 2008, has been touring worldwide as a guitarist and singer with the band of former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth. In addition, Niklas has released two albums with his progressive rock band Crystal Breed, plays with the krautrock band Jane, and has been touring with the monks of Gregorian since 2020. In 2018, participated in the "G3 Tour" alongside Uli Jon Roth, Joe Satriani, and John Petrucci.
Michael Schugardt / Bass:
At home in both rock and jazz. Completed a pop course in 2002 and studied Jazz/Rock/Pop in Hanover from 2003 to 2008. Over the years, performed and recorded with over 60 different bands, including Crystal Breed and youdid. Year abroad in London in 2013, has been working in a private music studio in Hamburg since 2014.
Momme Boe / Drums:
Wanted to play in the marching band at the age of three but couldn't carry the drum. Studied drums with a major in Jazz/Rock/Pop from 2003 along with Niklas, Jochen, and Michael in Hanover. As a drummer and percussionist, has played concerts and tours in over 20 countries, including with David Hasselhoff and Pee Wee Ellis, and has also run his own music school in Husum since 2017, and became the drummer of the "The Cream of Clapton Band" in 2023 – no one plays like Phil Collins like Momme.
Long ago, still legendary!
By the way: As "The Farm," concerts by the then university graduates caught the attention of the Genesis fan community back in 2007 & 2009, and their YouTube music videos ("Behind the lines" alone with almost 100,000 clicks) already prompted tour requests from around the world back then...
Now, it should spread quickly within the close-knit Genesis fan community that - musically matured - the five are playing again, albeit under a different name.
