The Lorant Aktan Trio is a young trio from the Hamburg University of Music. They bring modernity to the stage, heavily shaped by personal influences. The original compositions of pianist Lorant Aktan combine odd rhythms, melodic motifs from Kurdish and Eastern European folklore, as well as elements from Latin and contemporary jazz into a distinctly recognizable musical language. Lorant Aktan is considered one of the most promising talents in the Hamburg jazz scene. Trained between classical piano tradition and modern jazz, he develops an independent style that oscillates between contemporary improvisation, fusion, and compositional clarity. Especially his own pieces already show remarkable musical maturity and a pronounced sense of form and sound. He is already regularly active in the Hamburg jazz scene and can be heard in various projects. Influential figures include pianist Aaron Parks, with whom he also studied, as well as other voices from the modern jazz world. An important step in his development is the scholarship for the renowned Berklee Summer Program, which provides him with five weeks of international support and new musical impulses. The trio impresses with virtuosic interplay, complex arrangements, and high musical energy. Their approach is reminiscent of artists like Shai Maestro or Jesus Molina, but they develop a distinctive stylistic signature. In Minden, they perform with singer Kai Ringler: in this formation, the group won the concert prize first awarded by the Jazz Club Minden at the "Bundesbegegnung Jugend jazzt" in May 2026 in Halle/Saale, which was granted to them by a jury of the German Music Council, now securing them the performance in Minden.

Awarded with the "Newcomer Jazzpreis des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz" for the first time in 2024, bandleader and saxophonist Paul Scheugenpflug creates a balancing act between catchy melodies and energetic jazz improvisation with his compositions. The focus is on a varied and groove-based jazz program with influences from fusion, hip-hop, and pop. With the attention gained from winning the Jazzconnects Newcomer Prize 2026, the Jazz-undesigend Prize from the Dörken Foundation 2025, the Newcomer Jazz Prize RLP 2024, the Biberach Jazz Prize 2024, and the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship received in 2023 with the jazz collective "FÄZZ," Scheugenpflug released his debut album "WHO I AM" in spring 2026. During his nationwide release tour in March 2026, he presented this album.
