Music on the theme of nature, featuring baroque music with splashes of Beatles, jazz, cantatas by G.H. Stölzel and A. Vivaldi, and flute music by G.Ph. Telemann, among others.
Even though they sometimes threaten to get mixed up nowadays, they guide the program: The four seasons. Not the ones by Antonio Vivaldi, who is prominently represented, but in the form of Haiku, Japanese short poems that deal with the theme of nature. This Eastern perspective corresponds with the longing of the baroque period, which often set its love stories between shepherds and nymphs in the fictional Greek landscape of Arcadia. Alongside a cantata by Vivaldi, music by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Marc-Antoine Charpentier will also be heard. The action usually takes place at a source or a river, whose water is often equated with the tears of lovers.
The Beatles-esque nature boy also lingers by a river. He sings cheerfully - which, albeit location-wise, does not allow for the reeds. The nymph Syrinx, transformed into such, laments her fate in Debussy's famous piece as a flute. Nature Boy is a love song for life: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return. Today, the question arises - From Mother Nature?
The master of ceremonies is played by Georg Phillip Telemann, whose fantasies for flute initially set a strict framework, only to later loosen it for the virtuosic interplay of the musicians, all of whom are outstanding soloists.
