KLAUS LAGE presents - together with his long-time band member and friend BO HEART - his songs in an unusual guise. He sings songs from his career spanning over 40 years up to pieces from the current album. Concerts by KLAUS LAGE with BO HEART have left enthusiastic audiences behind at over 200 performances so far. Currently, the two are resuming the concept and presenting with
“ZU ZWEIT. LIVE.” both the classics and current songs from the singer's repertoire. Of course, the hits that made KLAUS LAGE a household name are also on the setlist. BO HEART on piano showcases the songs in a way that could not be more impressive. Live and pure: the piano and the voice. This special lineup highlights the qualities of the singer as well as of the exceptional pianist BO HEART. Each track, whether rock song or ballad, takes on a new dimension here. Naturally, transparent arrangements in the program invite listening and enjoying a voice that is unmatched in Germany. But no one has to miss out on German-language rock songs, among whose forerunners KLAUS LAGE belongs, because BO “Boogie” HEART, an expert in groove & musicality, repeatedly gets the audience on their feet.
Biographical
KLAUS LAGE was born on 16.06.1950 in Soltau. Stages: training as a businessman, relocation to Berlin in the early 70s, retraining as an educator, later as a social worker. In the mid-70s, he plays with his "Berliner Rockensemble" in the rock and blues clubs of the capital. His first albums are "Musikmaschine" (1980) and "Positiv" (1982). After his career picks up noticeably with his 3rd album "Stadtstreicher" (1983), he achieves a breakthrough with the release of "Schweißperlen" (1984) and the single "1001 Nacht," establishing himself as a significant figure in the German rock landscape. This status is solidified by his hits "Faust auf Faust" (extracted from the album "Heisse Spuren" and title song for the first Schimanski movie), "Monopoli," "Mit meinen Augen," or "Weil Du anders bist" (duet with Irene Grandi, from the 94 album "Katz und Maus").
Above all, through his countless concerts and tours, he continuously proves what a fantastic singer and captivating live performer he is.
In the musical "Stars," KLAUS LAGE plays the title role between November 1995 and autumn 1996. The performances at the Theater Nordhausen are sold out from the premiere onward. In 1994, he makes headlines with the release of his now 11th album "Katz und Maus" (East West Records) and an extensive Germany tour with his band. The Walt Disney Studios hire him in 1996 for their eye-catching film project "Toy Story." KLAUS LAGE translates and interprets the film songs by Randy Newman. The first fully computer-animated feature film becomes a huge success.
In April 1999, the album "LIVE ZU ZWEIT" is released by East West Records. "LIVE ZU ZWEIT" is a concert recording of the duo program with BO HEART, which is positively received by both the audience and critics alike. This is followed by the CDs "Mensch bleiben" (2000), "Die Welt ist schön!" (2003), "Zug um Zug" (2006). In 2008, two new albums are released: a double CD ("Beste Lage") with 38 tracks - selected by the artist himself - from his career, as well as the critically acclaimed work "nah & wichtig" recorded with his new band.
In 2011, he again releases two albums within a year: in spring the band production "Der Moment" and in autumn the solo live CD "Alleingang" (EMI). In 2013 and 2015, "Zeitreisen" (solo, live) and "Neuauflage" are released, followed by the acclaimed quartet recording "Blaue Stunde."
In 2018, KLAUS LAGE fulfills his long-standing dream with the CD "Das Big Band Projekt,” releasing his songs in big band arrangements. Recorded in a classic swing setup with piano, double bass, and drums, he releases the album "Nachtschwärmer" in 2021. With "Je wahrer die Liebe," an album featuring 13 mostly new songs is released in 2022.
BO HEART (keyboard and vocals) has already proven his singer/songwriter qualities with two solo albums ("Invitation"/ WEA + "In my Arms"/LAMU Records - BMG Ariola). In December 2001, he entered the charts with his project "4 Your Soul" (including Edo Zanki, Xavier Naidoo).
The German-Canadian is also regarded as one of the most renowned studio and live musicians in Germany, evidenced by various projects with several notable German rock and pop artists (including Xavier Naidoo, Sasha, HR Kunze, Edo Zanki, Vicky Leandros). As a producer and arranger, he has also demonstrated his sensitive and musical creativity (including Klaus Lage, Vicky Leandros, Simone Solga, Stolle).
