Two songs of love by Richard Strauss – “Morgen” and “Allerseelen” – frame the program, in which Simon Höfele brings his trumpet to sing with lyrical warmth and cantabile elegance. Between these two emotional poles, Haydn's cheerful and virtuosic Symphony No. 7 "Le Midi" and his famous Trumpet Concerto open a classical dialogue between light, sound, and form. Beethoven's "Pastorale" appears in a fascinating, transparent, and celebrated arrangement from 1810, which CHAARTS illuminates with chamber music clarity. The singer-songwriter, who says about herself, "I don't fit into any drawer - I am a chest of drawers," brings music to the stage for the first time with her program Vitamin Pe, which she has written for others, and reveals how it came to be that she set her songs up for adoption.

Pe Werner composed works and lyrics specifically for Mary Roos, Stefan Gwildis, Barbara Schöneberger, Katja Ebstein, Bernd Stelter, and many others, and wrote new lyrics to world hits by Bert Kaempfert, STING, Bach, Brahms, or Oleta Adams.

She interprets a selection of these custom-made pieces in this concert, along with her personal favorite songs and radio hits, energized by the wonderful pianist Peter Grabinger.

More than a successful staging – a love letter to the magic of theater

The old, worn-out comedian Svetlovidov has fallen asleep drunk in his dressing room after the performance, his last one. Now he wanders alone across the empty stage at night. He is joined by the young prompter Ivanyc, who has no home and secretly uses the theater as a sleeping place. Together, the old actor reflects on his life – a rather bleak life assessment. He muses aloud about the great roles in world literature and makes the young Ivanyc his reluctant playing partner. Over time, the interplay between the old Svetlovidov and Ivanyc transforms into a conflict-ridden father-son relationship. The authority of "father" Svetlovidov crumbles in the face of the defiance of "son" Ivanyc. Chasms of misunderstanding, mutual rejection, and disappointment open up between them. The time of the old man seems to be inevitably coming to an end, allowing the young man to take his place. Ivanyc seizes his chance - using the means of theater!

In this case, father and son indeed stand on the stage – a mighty theatrical thunder in the house of Roßbander.

An inclusive theater production based on Bertolt Brecht. A poignant parable about morality, identity, and the impossibility of remaining good in an unjust society.

A dystopian world, an urban space full of canyon-like buildings, inspired by the cinematic aesthetics of cyberpunk, provides the projection surface for this evening. In this, the new "gods" of our consumption society, shaped by technology and progress thinking, are reflected.
In a fragmented society where moral norms are distorted by social inequality, power dynamics, and economic pressure, Brecht's classic is re-examined.

An inclusive cast with performative multilingualism (projections, surtitles, German sign language, audio description, and videos) transforms the play into a contemporary parable about the tension between humanity and societal-political systemic constraints.
The diverse ensemble employs modern theatrical means, plays with dream sequences, body performance, individual perspectives, and retrofuturistic sounds, making this theater evening something special.

These three extraordinary artists want to take their audience to the place of humor and music this evening, as both can have a healing effect.

Camille Saint-Saëns' incomparable compositions have seduced Roger Willemsen into a lyrical story that is bursting with humor and imagination. Everything rhymes! All references to religion, eroticism, human rights, or mentality are reflected in the anthropomorphized animal beings.

When Katja Riemann got her hands on Willemsen's adaptation of the Book of Job, disguised as an illustrated children's book entitled "The Tired Happiness," the second part of the evening was clear. The carnival and the circus: both equally extraordinary gatherings of humans and animals, framed by entertainment.

Wolfgang Heim, radio journalist and long-time talk show host, meets Jean Asselborn, an expert on all the greats of international politics.

Jean Asselborn always spoke plainly. He accused Erdogan of blackmail and a bazaar mentality. He said that Orban treated refugees worse than wild animals. And for Salvini, he could only think of "Merde alors!".

Jean Asselborn's professional life consisted of two halves, each lasting about 20 years. First half: He was mayor of his hometown Steinfort in Luxembourg. Second half: He was the foreign minister of Luxembourg and became an expert during his long term in office, familiarizing himself with all the pitfalls and depths of the diplomatic floor.

And Asselborn knew all the greats of international politics: The US presidents from Bush to Trump. The German foreign ministers from Fischer to Baerbock. He knew one particularly well, perhaps the one he was most mistaken about: Sergei Lavrov.

Wolfgang Heim was an editor and host at SWR in Stuttgart until the summer of 2022. Over more than 30 years, he has hosted more than 3,000 talk shows. He moderated current affairs shows for many years, met completely unprepared guests in the podcast "Tell Me Something New", with whom he recorded long conversations off the cuff. And since 2022, he has been moderating the Sunday edition of the Micky Beisenherz podcast in "Apocalypse and Filter Coffee".

Can technology replace genuine feelings? What role does our personal experience of faith and God play?

The feature film is accompanied by seven musicians and singers from the band Tiefklang, highlighting the feelings and thoughts portrayed. This creates an intense interplay of image, music, and emotion – an audio-visual experience – making the audience part of the interactive space.

Authentic tango, passion and precision

Cuarteto SolTango primarily brings the classic tango music from the Golden Era of tango culture in the 30s and 40s to the stage. The musical richness is evident in the great diversity of musical styles and Orquestas Típicas, which have gained popularity in tango salons and concert halls around the world.

The ensemble performs in elaborate orchestrations by initiator Martin Klett, who is known as an international prizewinner and versatile pianist. Dutch cellist Karel Bredenhorst, also a founding member, concerts both as a passionate chamber musician and in experimental crossover projects. Violinist Thomas Reif became concertmaster of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at the age of 26 and has been awarded various international prizes. The bandoneon is played by Norwegian Andreas Rokseth, who graduated as the best bandoneonist in the history of Codarts University Rotterdam and thrilled the Argentine audience at the Buenos Aires Festival y Mundial.

In the concerts of Cuarteto SolTango, there is no printed program. The musicians announce the pieces and narrate live about the backgrounds and contents of the individual works, anecdotes from the lives of notable tango musicians, and explain why every German should learn the bandoneon...

The animals are fed up: they are poorly treated, must work hard, and often the drunken farmer forgets to feed them. Revolution! Together they chase all the humans off the farm, now working for themselves, together for a common good, and write down their own commandments to follow.

At first, everything goes well, but the pigs, being the most intelligent animals on the farm, gradually take control – until eventually not all animals are equal anymore…

The producers of the ADGE remain true to Orwell's narrative. At the same time, they distance themselves from the Russian Revolution as the only possible reference point. After all, humanity has tried countless times to bring about fundamental changes overnight through violence.

The animals are fed up: they are poorly treated, must work hard, and often the drunken farmer forgets to feed them. Revolution! Together they chase all the humans off the farm, now working for themselves, together for a common good, and write down their own commandments to follow.

At first, everything goes well, but the pigs, being the most intelligent animals on the farm, gradually take control – until eventually not all animals are equal anymore…

The producers of the ADGE remain true to Orwell's narrative. At the same time, they distance themselves from the Russian Revolution as the only possible reference point. After all, humanity has tried countless times to bring about fundamental changes overnight through violence.

This special Christmas concert takes a moment to pause and touches hearts and senses.

Under a starry sky at the Lindau Theater, we would like to pause just a few days before Christmas – far from the hustle and bustle, close to the music, and in the soft light of the moon.

The moon, a silent companion and witness to human emotion, a symbol of change, cool distance, and heartfelt vows, a projection surface and the unattainable. Schubert pours into music what Goethe writes:

“You fill again bush and valley / Quiet with misty shine / Finally, you also release / My soul entirely.”

Composers from Purcell to Chopin to Debussy sought in the moonlight that clarity which words can hardly grasp: longing, consolation, and a hint of timelessness. In David Orlowsky's work North, this search for direction resonates – “Music for places one yearns for without knowing where they lie,” says the clarinetist.

At the turn of the year, the most successful German television and touring theater presents a lively comedy.

“Down with the pants!” is the title of the new comedy from the Chiemgauer Volkstheater. Alfred Hellmann returns home in good spirits and slim after his cure, but the joy quickly turns to disbelief: He finds a strange man's pants in his wife Christiane's wardrobe. Did she have an affair during his absence? The mystery deepens when Alfred's friends Simon and Marcel report the same: Strange pants are also appearing in their wardrobes!

The three bewildered men search for a connection and stumble upon the plumber Eugen Efflinger, who has recently been working in all three households. However, the found pants are not size-compatible with him. Who is the unknown pants cavalier testing the marriages, or is it just a mean prankster behind it?

Like a thriller, this play shows the price that the majority of people and nature must pay for the hubris, greed, and ruthlessness of a few – it could hardly be more relevant.

While the world is shaken by global crises, wars, and economic uncertainty, the region around the city of Dybern is flourishing. The population lives in peace and safety, as the large factory in the city provides jobs and prosperity for the people. When one day a mysterious fog rises around Dybern, killing animals and soon the first humans, the population initially speculates about the causes: Is it a divine test, an epidemic, or even man-made calamity? But soon, events take a rapid turn. While workers and children fear for their lives, needing to flee and seek shelter, the elites of the city must not lose control. For the control of information and the population must be maintained at all costs. If necessary, with the help of the military.

In her drama written in 1932, Maria Lazar dissects the chronology of a catastrophe. Together with his team, director and visual artist Philipp Preuss stages the work of the writer who had been forgotten until a few years ago.

Alexei Volodin & Claire Huangci - Two Pianos - One Soul

The piano music cannot sound more powerful!

Claire Huangci and Alexei Volodin are among the most renowned pianists of their generation, repeatedly awarded and at home on the most significant stages in the world. Their collaboration as a duo is described as a "firework of two pianos," a virtuosic exchange – two world-class artists with one soul.

Mozart's Sonata in D major K 448 opens the evening like a sparkling double concert: two pianos in a highly virtuosic yet transparent dialogue that combines orchestral richness with chamber music delicacy. Chopin's youthful Rondo in C major op. 73 and Saint-Saëns' brilliant Scherzo op. 87 showcase the duo's light, playful side: sparkling virtuosity, buoyant articulation, and lightning-fast reactions. Rachmaninoff's Suite No. 2 op. 17 and Ravel's "La Valse" ultimately demand orchestral thinking – here, Huangci and Volodin condense the sound into a rapturous panorama, where late romantic opulence and the abyssal dance on the volcano of the early 20th century shine unforgettable.
