The Old Gasometer is a significant testimony to late founding industrial culture in both a tourist attraction and a popular event location in Zwickau.
The cultural offerings range from concerts to theater performances, vaudeville shows, cabaret, conferences, and readings, to art house cinema. The modern hall offers 300 seats. The current gasometer was designed as a municipal property with the aim of being used as a peace and meeting center, actively involving and reaching many people of different ages, backgrounds, life perspectives, and beliefs.
Since the completion of the 15-month renovation and complete reconstruction in 2000, the Old Gasometer offers space for associations, institutions, groups, and projects with a total of 1700 m² of usable space and around 900 m² of outdoor space.
