“Schwanensee – Jenseits der Bühne” presents Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece in a new, intimate, and immersive production that gives the ballet an unexpected perspective.

Diving into the atmosphere of a theater creates unique conditions for a special ballet experience: The audience is right in the middle of the action, very close to the dancers, accompanied by the live sound of a string quartet that brings the music to life in its purest form.

The production blurs the boundaries between stage and audience. In the interplay of light and sound, the story of Odette and Odile unfolds with new depth. Minimalist stage aesthetics and a cinematic narrative provide fresh life to the classic.

“Schwanensee – Jenseits der Bühne” invites you to rediscover great ballet art – vibrant, moving, and surprisingly close.

Can you seriously earn a doctorate in pop music? Yes! And what do you do with it? Comedy and cabaret. Dr. Pop is a doctor for the musical. He heals with music samples and fascinating music facts.
Dr. Pop studied media studies and pop music in the four major pop music metropolises of the world: Manchester, Liverpool, Paderborn, and Detmold. He then earned his doctorate on the topics of terrorism and Orientalism in pop music at the Humboldt University of Berlin. He was under police protection for six years. Initially, he thought it was due to the explosive power of his theses, but it was because Angela Merkel's private apartment was next door to his music institute. Dr. Pop takes the stage, produces videos, and can be heard as a radio comedian on WDR2, SWR3, 104.6 RTL, and as a weekly columnist on radioeins from RBB. Performances include NightWash, Quatsch Comedy Club, Kabarett-Theater Wühlmäuse, and at the Senior Center Charlottenburg.
In his solo live program "Hitverdächtig," Dr. Pop decodes which music can save a party, a relationship, and even a life. The audience gets astonishingly funny answers to questions like: Which music boosts libido or motivation for sports? Which music makes you smart and which makes you mentally numb? Why do termites chew through wood twice as fast when they listen to heavy metal? And why do ten people sit at a laptop for a hit today instead of one with a guitar? Dr. Pop completes the last missing Spotify playlist and musically rebels against impending Wi-Fi failure. He fires off samples of familiar and new hits from music history in his show – from hip-hop, rock, pop, and schlager to classical and jazz. STAGING
Creating a fairy-tale world that captivates both children and adults alike was the stated goal from the beginning. The success of this endeavor was demonstrated by the reactions of our visitors. The adult audience was just as enchanted by the magical enchanted forest and its mythical creatures as the younger visitors were. The greatest compliment came from a 10-year-old girl who persuaded her grandmother to gift her the recording. The fact that even children's ears were enchanted by the sophisticated music, which often reminiscent of Wagner in its orchestration, is a lovely confirmation for this production.

STAGE HISTORY
The world premiere took place with great success on December 23, 1893, in Weimar under the direction of Richard Strauss. Following performances in Karlsruhe and Munich, other German stages quickly followed, such as Berlin's Linden Opera in 1894, which managed an impressive total of 425 performances by 1964. Translated into 17 foreign languages, "Hänsel und Gretel" has also spread rapidly abroad - as far as Africa, North and South America, Australia, and even the Far East (1961 in Tokyo). Boys' choirs like the Vienna Boys' Choir and Regensburg Cathedral Sparrows have included the work in their repertoire.

In our Contemporary course for adults, you have the opportunity to learn the basics and rehearse choreographies. The focus is on fluid, dynamic movements that flow in a constant change of tension and relaxation. You will learn to fill the space with your movements and move freely within it.

In this workshop, you will play with a variety of movement qualities – from gentle, controlled flow to powerful, energetic movements. It's not just about executing steps, but about expressing yourself emotionally through dance. The workshop will be led by Jona Kühnen. Jona brings a wealth of experience and passion for dance and teaching groups.
