More than an incredible 20 years have passed since Bananafishbones catapulted themselves with now-classic songs like "Come to Sin" and "Easy Day" into the premier league of the national indie rock scene. Since then, the trio from Bad Tölz has been regarded as "one of the best live bands in Germany" (SZ) and, after over three decades of band history, remains creative and passionate as ever. On their Never Ending Tour across the country, brothers Sebastian (vocals and bass) and Peter Horn (guitar) along with drummer Florian Rein, with unbroken joy of playing and boundless energy, explore new musical territories at every live show and not only unveil fascinating and unexpected facets of well-known, sometimes long-buried song gems, but also take the unique Fishbones sound to previously unknown realms with their new songs.
Although their last regular album "12 Songs in One Day" from 2012 is already a bit in the past, in the meantime, fans have had numerous opportunities to see on three live CDs and a Best Of album that the band has not lost any of its drive and power. Additionally, in recent times, the individual members have made a name for themselves in various formations, diversifying their musical spectrum even further: Sebastian sings Bavarian ballads with Dreiviertelblut, Florian performs at The Heimatdamisch Brass Festivals between Italy and Norway, Peter is a sought-after film music composer, among other ventures. However, despite all the success of their individual projects, these three exceptional musicians continue to find their creative nucleus in Bananafishbones, where a variety of styles and influences merge and can blossom into new creations. Here, down-to-earth country rock meets melancholic post-grunge, blending with quirky psychedelic sounds and the occasional touch of trip-hop and electro - "at times awkward and unconventional, at times quirky and above all uniquely beautiful" (Tölzer Kurier).
Their charming individualism and unwavering unity as musicians and individuals are the poles from which the band develops its almost magnetic pull, driving them to explore new possibilities together. The sole criterion in doing so is always the opportunity to experiment with new sounds and expressions. In addition to contributing to various film soundtracks ("Wer früher stirbt, ist länger tot," "Die Wilden Kerle," "Groupies bleiben nicht zum Frühstück") and stage music for productions at the Munich Schauburg Theatre ("Scuderi," "Fahrenheit 451," "Jenseits von Eden"), two musicals for children have also been created ("Lieselotte und der verschwundene Apfelkuchen," "Rico, Oscar und die Tieferschatten"). The music of Bananafishbones captivates audiences who, like the band itself, move beyond all cultural clichés and age limits.
Live, the three, who conquered countless stages throughout Europe in their reckless and impulsive years, are still in search of the magic of the moment, the enchantment that makes every concert special for them, whether on the grand festival stage, at intimate unplugged gigs, or at one of their traditional concerts, played every year before Christmas at the sold-out Tölz Kurhaus. Then, what the band sings in their song "Glam" always rings true again and personally for everyone in the audience: "You feel good but I feel better!"
