Graf Almaviva hat seiner Gräfin zuliebe das Recht der ersten Nacht abgeschafft, geht aber stillschweigend davon aus, selbst weiterhin davon Gebrauch machen zu können. Zu seiner Freude steht die nächste Hochzeit bereits vor der Tür, denn sein Diener Figaro möchte endlich seine geliebte Susanne, die Zofe der Gräfin, ehelichen. Almaviva lässt seinen Haus- und Hofintriganten Bazillus flugs ein paar Ränke schmieden, um sich Susanne nähern zu können. Um die Pläne des Grafen zu vereiteln, muss nun Figaro eine Gegenintrige spinnen. Hilfe bekommt er von der unglücklichen Gräfin, die die Gelegenheit nutzen will, ihren Mann der Untreue zu überführen. Bei einem nächtlichen Rendezvous im Garten soll der Graf in die Falle gelockt werden – doch der Plan fliegt auf, und Almaviva holt zum Gegenschlag aus.

Im Original von 1784 besiegt der Witz die Gewalt. Auch Turrinis böse Komödie steckt voller Wortspiele und bissiger Pointen, aber die Sprache hat nicht mehr die Macht, die Verhältnisse umzukehren. Das Lachen droht im Halse steckenzubleiben.

Zu Beginn in Dunkelheit gehüllt, entfaltet LEIB – What does a body desire? ein akustisches Erlebnis aus Knistern und sanften Klängen, die den Raum erfüllen. Allmählich taucht eine Feuerstelle im Licht auf, und die Bühne wird zu einem Ort sinnlich-poetischer Beschwörung. Mit Stimme, Musik, Objekten und Bewegung wird nicht etwa ein Geist beschworen, sondern der Körper selbst – als erster Raum des Fühlens und der Begegnung.

Cuatro x Cuatro ist bekannt für seine innovativen Arbeiten, die tief in sozialen Kontexten verwurzelt sind. In diesem ersten Teil ihrer Trilogie geht es darum, dem Körper eine neue Entfaltung zu eröffnen. Der Körper wird als kollektive Stimme wahrgenommen, die mit der Natur, mit Träumen, der Nacht und der Sonne spricht. Der Tanz wird zu einem Raum, in dem eine andere Welt möglich ist – oder zumindest zu einem Weg, diese Welt zu erleben und zu begreifen. Einst einer der größten Rockstars Osteuropas, steht Goran Bregovic seit 20 Jahren für anspruchsvolle, komplexe zeitgenössische Musik, bei der mitreißende Bläser im Vordergrund stehen und die aufgrund von Stimmen, die wie Instrumente eingesetzt werden, gleichzeitig sehr melodisch ist.
Ob auf Platte oder live, er ist DER Pionier der südosteuropäischen Musik und geleitet das Publikum bei seinen Konzerten mit der Wedding And Funeral Band auf eine atemberaubende Reise entlang des Balkans und noch weit darüber hinaus.
Bekannt als Filmkomponist (v.a. für die Filmklassiker Emir Kusturicas) und als zeitgenössischer Komponist gefragt, tritt Bregovic außer auf bedeutenden Festivals häufig in den renommiertesten Konzertsälen der Welt auf. Die Alte Oper Frankfurt oder die Kölner Philharmonie hat er schon mehrfach ausverkauft.

Fast 20 Jahre nach der Französischen Revolution warten Marie-Antoinette und Ludwig XVI. noch immer auf ihre Hinrichtung. Der Hausarrest im Seitenflügel des Versailler Schlosses bietet wenig Abwechselung, vom Personal sind nur ein alter Kammerdiener, eine Kammerzofe mit begrenzter Geisteskapazität und ein wortkarger Musikus geblieben und die Lebensmittelvorräte gehen zur Neige. Das gelegentlich nach Kuchen verlangende „Volk“ muss mit leeren Händen wieder abziehen. Aber eine neue Erfindung im praktischen Kleinformat hat es bis hierher geschafft: die Guillotine. An unliebsamem Besuch wird sie gleich ausprobiert. Schließlich muss man sich von jeder alten Geliebten mal trennen – und bei der Halsbandaffäre blickt ohnehin niemand mehr durch.
Mit diesem Stück heiter-kontrafaktischer Geschichtsschreibung hat Peter Jordan eine pointensprühende
Beziehungskomödie geschaffen.
