MARION & SOBO BAND kreiert ihren eigenen modernen Stil aus Globaler Musik und vokalem Jazz und beweist, dass handgemachte, akustische Musik nicht nur filigran, kontemplativ und farbenreich sein kann, sondern selbst ohne Schlagzeug auch hochenergetisch und wuchtig. Das deutsch-französisch-polnische Ensemble um die multilinguale Sängerin Marion Lenfant-Preus und der Gitarrist Alexander „Sobo“ Sobocinski präsentiert ihr neues Album „gomera“, der landschaftlich wie kulturell so vielfältigen Kanaren-Inselgewidmet, auf der die beiden viele Winter verbracht und viele Song-Ideengesammelt haben. Stilistisch bunt von Gypsy Jazz bis hin zu Rumba, Chanson und Balkan Klänge. Sprachlich vielfältig mit Liedern (auf Französisch und auch auf Englisch, Spanisch, Deutsch und Romanes), die zum Tanzen und Träumen einladen. Die Band singt und spielt mit Charme, Humor, Leichtigkeit und Spielfreude für ein kultur- und generationsübergreifendes Publikum.

Die Italo-Folk- und Jazz-Künstlerin, Stella Tonon präsentiert eine einzigartige Fusion aus alten italienischen Folksongs und inspirierten Eigenkompositionen, mit denen sie ihre italienisch-portugiesischen Wurzeln erkundet und ihre musikalische Vergangenheit aus Rock, Neo-Folk, Jazz und Blues einfließen lässt. Mit ihrem Debütalbum „Mezzanotte“ und durch ihre künstlerische Interpretation verleiht sie diesen traditionellen Melodien der „Canzone“ der 40er bis 60er Jahre eine zeitgemäße Note, die sowohl Fans der Folk- und Jazz-Musik als auch neue Hörer*innen anspricht.

Die Ausstellung von Krzysztof Franaszek (PL) und Gereon Krebber (DE) widmet sich den Themen von Mutationen der Formen und dem Prozess der Bedeutungsbestimmung. Durch Schmelzen, Biegen, Quetschen und Tropfen verwandeln Franaszek und Krebber ursprüngliche Motive sowie Objekte und verwischen die Grenzen zwischen der künstlichen (oft städtischen) Welt und der Natur. Die Künstler lösen nicht nur klare skulpturale Formen auf, sondern spielen auch mit der Lesbarkeit und den konventionellen Bedeutungen der Dinge. All diese Mehrdeutigkeiten treffen in der Galerie des Polnischen Instituts in Düsseldorf zusammen und bilden dort eine Konstellation aus sich verschiebenden formalen Trennungen, ambivalenten Bedeutungen aber auch fließenden geopolitischen Abgrenzungen.

Girl meets Boy. Könnte man denken. Aber was passiert, wenn in dieser Begegnung nichts ist wie gelernt? Wenn "Girl" nicht den gesellschaftlichen Erwartungen und Regeln entspricht, sondern vielmehr in ihrer Begegnung mit dem anderen Geschlecht und der sie umgebenden männlich dominierten Welt auf ihrer Individualität und Eigenständigkeit beharrt. Sie lässt sich nicht besitzen, nicht benutzen, nicht domestizieren – will sich nicht fortpflanzen, nicht heiraten und auch ihr Sex gehört ihr. Alice Birchs Stück ist ein feministisches Manifest in vier Akten. Eine Reise durch den Alltag von Frauen, die daran erinnert, wie tief unsere Sprache, unsere Sitten, all unsere grundlegenden Vorstellungen von Arbeit und Privatleben vom Erbe der Gewalt durchdrungen sind.

POLE-POSITION. Der „Polnische Projekttag für NRW-Schulen geht auf eine gemeinsame Initiative des Polnischen Instituts Düsseldorf und des Ministeriums für Schule und Weiterbildung NRW im Frühjahr 2005 zurück. Durch die konsequente Regularität und das Ansprechen aller Schulformen hat das Bildungsprojekt einen Ausnahme-Charakter erreicht.
Die inzwischen oft mehrmals im Monat stattfindende ganztägige – für die Schulen kostenfreie – Veranstaltung richtet sich an SchülerInnen ab der Sekundarstufe II, die sich für Austauschbesuche mit polnischen Schulen bzw. –Klassen vorbereiten wollen, oder die etwas mehr über Polen erfahren möchten. Die Projekteinheiten: Crashkurs durch die polnisch-deutsche Geschichte; Workshops Kulturelle Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen Polen und Deutschen; Junge Szene in Polen; Polen im Internet; Polnische Literatur; Schnupperkurs Polnisch; Landeskunde Polen; Politik: Polen-Deutschland-EU verschaffen den Schülerinnen und Schülern der weiterführenden Schulen einen attraktiv gestalteten, modernen und zugleich umfassenden Blick auf ihren Nachbarn.
