Hyperrealistic miniature puppet theater

Floods, droughts, fires. These especially affected Slovenia in 2023: rivers swelled massively thanks to heavy rain, causing floods and landslides. Transport: Departure penetratingly documents the story of a family whose home fell victims to the masses of water. The production by Puppentheaters Ljubljana looks at how individual decisions are interweaved with political and economic structures and asks what future is still possible if humanity ignores the boundaries of nature.
"Transport" is a six-part theater series that has been celebrated across Europe that concerns itself with the effects of mobility in a globalized world. All productions use individually created scenographies consisting of realistically designed spaces, buildings, streets and public infrastructure that are inhabited by 3D printed characters. An immersive experience for the audience is created with a performance style oriented around animated films and a 3D soundscape.

“Today, the gates will open for the last time to welcome more than 900 gymnasts from every corner of our country. So that they can also present their performances. So that they can also express their desire for peace, friendship and a happy life for all people on the planet. These are the loveliest pictures of our homeland. Our people live here, our children are born here, we are at home here – here in our socialist community, which is wisely led by the Communist Party.”
In "Loops & Hoops", the large-scale sporting event Spartakiade becomes the point of departure for a reflection upon everyday life in Czechoslovakia during the period of so-called normalization. Using fascinating scenography and a stage the size of an old television, the production examines uniformity and monotony, assimilation and personal freedom, nostalgia kitsch and nostalgia criticism.
