Names can be misleading: In this cosmic jam, there are no endless and space- and time-less electronic improvisations, like those in the early Tangerine Dream, Ashra Temple, or Klaus Schulze. Cosmic Jam is a seven-member band with hand-forged instruments, and their frontman Jens van Slooten doesn't come from distant galaxies but from Cologne, while the others hail from deep NRW. They blend funk, pop, acid jazz, and neo-soul into their own sound. Groovy original compositions, refined with characteristic brass, result in a concert guaranteed to provide fun and dance.

The C major Trio No. 27 is part of an opus of three piano trios that Joseph Haydn wrote during his second stay in England in 1795 and dedicated to Therese Jansen, an obviously outstanding pianist considering the technical demands in these works. The virtuosity of the piano part in the C major Trio is also remarkable. In the 1st movement, it surprises with grand gestures and strong forzato accents. The Andante relies on contrasts that foreshadow Beethoven, and the humorous Presto finale, a sonata rondo, gains its originality from the perfect balance of humor, dance rhythm, and pinpoint fluency.

Judith Weir is one of the most prolific and successful composers in Great Britain and is widely known for her operas, numerous choral works, and pieces for piano and strings. She usually likes to invent titles for her works that summarize the special world of each composition, but the two works played here are simply named after what they are: Piano trios. Judith Weir cites that the many external impressions that make up her musical world have become too numerous and too personal to be captured in the few words allowed by a composition title.

The D minor Trio quickly became one of Mendelssohn Bartholdy's popular works. It was created during happy days in Frankfurt and along the Rhine and possesses a youthful vigor and songfulness despite its minor key. Unlike the late Beethoven, the piano and the two string instruments stand more as independent sound worlds. Robert Schumann referred to the work as "the master trio of the present" and predicted: "A very beautiful composition that will delight grandchildren and great-grandchildren for years to come."

From then on, the youngest daughter Belle must live in the enchanted castle. Belle's initial fear quickly gives way to curiosity when she discovers that behind the Beast's tough exterior lies a soft core, and that she can even laugh and dance with him. Philipp Klapproth is an elderly gentleman who regularly drives his family members to madness with his adventurous spirit. For his upcoming trip to Berlin, he asks his nephew Alfred to organize a visit to a mental institution. In desperation, Alfred turns to his friend Ernst Kissling, who recommends simply accommodating the uncle at the Pension Schöller, as the guests there are infamous for their eccentricities. These guests then exceed all expectations with their quirks and eccentricities, much to the delight of the completely enthusiastic Klapproth. However, the euphoria does not last long, as all the guests accept the imprudently spoken invitation to visit Klapproth's country estate, leading to an unprecedented escalation of events.

With the premiere of the comedy ≫Pension Schöller≪ in 1890, the author duo Wilhelm Jacoby and Carl Laufs achieved an unparalleled success in German theater. To this day, the play continues to delight audiences and provoke endless laughter in the stalls.

Prof. Willliam Chattney ist tot. Er war ein berühmter Wissenschaftler. Bevor jedoch das Testament verlesen werden kann, muss das Leben des Verstorbenen mit Hilfe der Gäste rekonstruiert werden. Eigentlich kein Problem, wäre da nicht Detective Johnson. Er ermittelt, da es sich bei Chattneys ableben um ein Gewaltverbrechen handelt.

Wer hat Chattney wie getötet? Woran hat er geforscht? Und welches Geheimnis nahm er mit in´s Grab? Der Notar Mr. Green und sein treuer Assistent Manfred haben alle Hände voll zu tun: Sie kontrollieren die Überwachungskameras des Anwesens, lesen mit Hilfe von Herbert Wandschneider aus der Zukunft und Dr. Sten-Gelle vereint kosmische Energie mit Wissenschaft, nur um das Rätsel zu lösen. Am Ende ist es aber doch Extrem Norbert, der unterstützt vom Publikum, die Wende einleitet.

Die Schauspieler binden das Publikum immer wieder spontan durch ihre langjährige Erfahrung als Improvisations-Künstler in die Krimi-Geschichte mit ein. Gaumenfreuden und Unterhaltung, unvorhersehbare Entwicklungen und erstaunliche Wendungen wechseln sich ab.

Die beiden Darsteller bedienen sich vielfältiger Ausdrucksmittel, spielen gleich mehrere Charaktere und haben ein genaues Gespür für den Zuschauer. Ihre Spielfreude ist kaum zu bremsen und verzückt das Publikum. „Die prickelnde Ungewissheit und der Moment der Überraschung – sowohl im Publikum als auch auf der Bühne - das mache den Reiz aus“.

No more than 20 years old, Mozart wrote the pieces of this program, and all of them represent important moments in the life of the young composer. Magnificent symphonies, brilliant concertos, elegant divertimenti: In the most diverse genres, he processed influences and musical souvenirs from his long journeys and tours, putting everything into his own unique handwriting. He composed his first symphony at the age of 8 in London – an extremely early masterpiece, shaped by the impressions the child prodigy collected in England. As the soloist in Mozart's fourth violin concerto, Anne Luisa Kramb, a prizewinner at the German Music Competition 2022, makes her debut with the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra Essen.

After 8 chanson programs including Brecht, Friedrich Holländer, Andre Heller, Udo Jürgens, we want to continue the series of chanson evenings with Hildegard Knef with a selection of well-known and lesser-known songs.

Hildegard Knef had her last concert in Hamburg in 1986. She became famous already in the post-war period with her first major film success in 1946 in Wolfgang Staudes' "The Murderers Are Among Us", not to forget the film "The Sinner", a scandal in the conservative and prudish Adenauer era, and last but not least her Hollywood and Broadway career.

In 1962, her career as a chanson singer began, which made her just as famous as her career as an actress. Many of her songs reflect her life story.

Regarding Dmitri Shostakovich's survival tactic under Stalin, it involved promising something to the regime but then doing something entirely different. When presenting the 6th Symphony, he hinted at a monumental work in honor of the founding father Lenin – with choir and soloists. However, when the symphony turned out to be purely instrumental, the composer still promised an optimistic work celebrating spring and youth.
But what he actually wrote confused everyone: a mournfully sad, tragic Largo, followed by two exaggeratedly joyful, grotesque fast movements. Is there a missing ending here – or is there a missing beginning? The Presto is certainly a striking conclusion.

To promote the music of Leoš Janáček's opera "Jenůfa" (1904) in concert halls, various orchestral suites have been compiled over the years. The newest and perhaps most successful attempt is by conductor Manfred Horneck and composer Tomás Ille.
In largely authentic instrumentation, the "Symphonic Suite" unfolds the contrast between the sorrowful world of the village girl Jenůfa and the joyful dances of the village.

Giacomo Puccini wrote a dozen operas, large and small. One of the most famous and beloved is "La Bohème," set in the artist and student milieu of Paris and premiered in Turin in 1896. Certainly a dozen melodies from "La Bohème" have become world-famous, including the arias of the female lead Mimì ("Sì. Mi chiamano Mimì," "D’onde lieta uscì") and those of the supporting character Musetta ("Quando m’en vò").
