In a short period of time, the stage production REGEN by and with Ferdinand von Schirach has become one of the most visited new plays in the German-speaking world. The acclaim and demand have remained unbroken since the premiere, which is why the bestselling author is now adding numerous additional dates for 2024 and 2025 following his almost completely sold-out premiere tour.

In 2023, Ferdinand von Schirach's new book REGEN was published - entering directly at number 1 on the bestseller list. A narrative that Ferdinand von Schirach has been presenting as a monologue on stage since October 2023: a man comes drenched from the rain into a bar - onto the stage - and talks about the greatness and the horrors of our time, about human dignity, loneliness, love, loss, and failure.

REGEN is a bold and very personal piece, a play on the border between stage character and author. Directed by Elmar Goerden.

Means and Ways

In his new program, Stefan Danziger once again provides a quirky look at history. Nice Vikings, polyamorous Ivan the Terrible, and Mr. Hexogen are just a few protagonists in his comedy show. What does the sunflower have to do with colonialism, and aren't the 4 apocalyptic riders simply 4 girls at a riding school in Brandenburg? At the same time, he refers to his childhood in the Eastern Bloc, where only losers lived on the ground floor of a new building. Danziger struggles with the ever-changing everyday life as a young father, full of Pegasus, a corner shop, and the new pet. An insane journey through his thought world full of funny anecdotes and completely crazy facts of history and everyday madness.

The painter and graphic artist Max Beckmann (1884 – 1950) is considered one of the most important German artists in the first half of the 20th century. However, the circle of his students is almost unknown. Although Beckmann taught a master class at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main for several years – from 1925 to 1933, there is no "Beckmann School." In 1933, Beckmann was dismissed from his teaching position by the National Socialists – his circle of students dissolved before a significantly Beckmann-influenced "school" could develop from the class.

The exhibition sheds light on the artistic development of Theo Garve, Georg Heck, Walter Hergenhahn, Inge Hergenhahn-Dinand, Leo Maillet, Friedrich Wilhelm Meyer, and Karl Tratt. The exhibition explores the extent to which their artistic development was restricted and their recognition hindered by the circumstances of the time.

Conducting is the most natural way for her to communicate music, says conductor Erina Yashima. And this way is extremely well received by orchestras, audiences and critics. The Hamburger Abendblatt called her a »new star in the conducting firmament«. Now, for the first time, it is also rising in Frankfurt. The German-Japanese conductor, First Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper in Berlin, is symphonically at home in Eastern European and Russian late Romanticism. More precisely: she is currently in her Dvořák phase, a composer who is very close to her heart, as Erina Yashima says. The woman with the dancing agility on the podium introduces them here with the »Winter Dreams« Symphony by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, which revels in its dark sound, and also presents a work by the Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom and Camille Saint-Saëns´ Cello Concerto No. 1. The soloist is Bryan Cheng, who is also making his debut with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony. The Canadian-born, Berlin-based cellist has recently been extremely successful at some of the world´s most prestigious international competitions with his immediately appealing, bright yet warm tone, which is provided by the Stradivarius »Dubois« cello from 1699.

A play based on historical reports, biographies, and interrogation protocols of the "Peinlichen Verhör Amts der Freien Stadt Frankfurt am Main."

In September 1848, the storm breaks loose in Frankfurt. The insurgents almost succeed in disrupting the Paulskirche assembly. During the barricade fighting on Töngesgasse, Simon is arrested and now sits in the "Peinlichen Verhör-Amt," being grilled by Heinrich. Who has devised the plans for the coup? Who is to blame for the deaths of two delegates? What does Annette from Ginnheim have to do with all of this? And who is Friederike, the woman with the umbrella? Featuring: revolutionaries, reactionaries, concerned townsfolk, and three cheeky musicians. Heinrich is at a loss with this case. In the end, more comes out than anyone would like – with surprising consequences.

In this workshop, we will be inspired by Beckmann's assignment – the motif of the view from the window – and create our own “view from the window” using the technique of linocut. Colorful, black-and-white, or single-colored, your creativity knows no bounds!
