What is Soul? A captivating music style, some say. An overwhelming feeling, claim others. It is what makes us distinctive, states the English dictionaries. Each of these definitions applies to the Matti Klein Soul Trio, but the latter describes the essence of the trio founded in 2017 particularly well. For in the Matti Klein Soul Trio, three kindred spirits have come together in the name of groove, charting an independent path beyond the well-trodden paths of Hammond organ trios. At the center of the sonic events are the warm Wurlitzer sounds of band leader Matti Klein, who, with the funk-jazz formation Mo' Blow and the Brazilian yacht-pop heavyweight Ed Motta, has already graced the most important jazz clubs in New York, Tokyo, London, and Paris. The cozy deep tones of a 1973 Fender Rhodes Piano-Bass are a similar unique feature of the group, as is the precise use of sound effects by tenor saxophonist and bass clarinetist Lars Zander. Drummer André Seidel's elastic playing ensures that the trio's other specialty, the uncomplicated preference for Odd Meters, is literally accepted without question.

Prominent Soul gourmets like the BBC Radio legend Robert Elms or singer Max Mutzke swear by the trio's songs, in which vibrant Soul-Jazz and the instrumental Funk of The Meters or The Crusaders stand organically alongside Hip-Hop elements or spacey Post-Rock. And the media response to the band's previous albums and live shows (including Haiti, Finland, or a UK tour) speaks volumes. Through in-depth interviews, he weaves science and emotion into an unsettling documentary. Shot at 14 glaciers in Austria, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, the film ultimately poses an unavoidable question: “How do we want to say goodbye to our glaciers?” The glaciers of the Eastern Alps are dying – irreversibly, scientists agree. Yet while the “eternal ice” is shrinking, tourism is booming. In the summer, visitors crowd into glacier cable cars to touch the last remnants. Ski operations are running at full speed, and interventions in nature are taking increasingly drastic forms: slope stabilizations, glacier covers, snow depots, artificial snow systems, massive land leveling – a race against time.

Finally, the well-known band "Zärtlichkeiten mit Freunden" is leaving the dusty, worn-out paths of central German rock music and is cautiously stepping onto new terrain. After countless years, filled to the brim with smash hits on the electric guitar, the two rough musicians – or at least one of them – want to reinvent themselves. And the other has to join in. A fresh wind is blowing through the band. A test for the relationship between man and musician. It smells of electricity and cold solder joints in the borrowed synthesizer. Come and see.
