The annual New Year tour of the Police Orchestra Bavaria under the direction of its Principal Conductor Prof. Johann Mösenbichler is themed "Mit Schwung und Dolce Vita ins Neue Jahr" in 2025.
Classical, festive, and with Viennese charm, Carl Zeller's song "Grüß euch Gott!" from the operetta "Der Vogelhändler" opens the New Year concert of the Police Orchestra Bavaria. The vocal part is taken by the tenor Franz Gürtelschmied. In the typical style of the Vienna New Year concerts, music from the pen of Johann Strauss follows. First, "Eine Nacht in Venedig" rings out, followed by "Ach, wie herrlich zu schaun." According to the concert title "Mit Schwung und Dolce Vita ins neue Jahr," the proud Italian sounds of Marcia Italiana continue, followed by Johann Strauss' waltz "Rosen aus dem Süden." With La Danza, a composition by Gioacchino Rossini sung by soloist Gürtelschmied, the concert moves into the intermission. Under the direction of Johann Mösenbichler, the brass players of the Police Orchestra Bavaria open the second part with the electrifying fanfares from Thomas Doss's "Fanfare in Jubilo," before the world-famous Chianti song begins. Nino Rota's film music for the Oscar-winning "Amarcord" as well as Julie Giroux's "Italian Rhapsody" skillfully incorporate Italian melodies, culminating in the Spanish song "Granada" to close the concert.
