HARPHONIC - Katrin & Werner Unterlercher goes symphonic
In March 2027, something big is coming your way – something unexpected, unique, and fantastic. The Tyrolean folk harp and the classical double bass meet in a symphonic guise with modern and surprising sounds. Katrin & Werner Unterlercher fulfill a lifelong dream and go on tour with their new program "HARPHONIC" and their own symphony orchestra! The Tyrolean couple is not an unknown duo in the world of folk music. Werner tours as a fixed member of the Herbert Pixner Project around the world. Katrin – until her parental leave also part of the Pixner Project ensemble – realizes her own music through songwriting. Together, they perform on stages in Austria and abroad, enchanting their audience with very special, original compositions. With pieces that penetrate deep. With sounds that do not resemble folk music at all, yet somehow are folk-like.
Stories told in “symphonic”: Together with musical friends, they will create even bigger sparks in March 2027. With well-known pieces like Flowers, Orphan Black, or Eldorado, they ensure a certain degree of harpiness in the audience. With foresight, they enchant their guests. With vigor, they take the listeners through the breathtaking string slalom and into the incredible harp hell ride of Katrin. In doing so, Katrin and Werner repeatedly process their own life story as passionate musicians: They tell of the uncertainty of recent years, of the great break, and also of how a very special lucky star ensures that they – if necessary – always know exactly where to find their home base.
High-caliber symphony orchestra from Vienna on board: Despite the grounded nature of the two Tyroleans, Katrin and Werner Unterlercher do not skimp on quality with their new program "HARPHONIC". No less than the well-known Varga Quartet from Vienna will share the stage with the two passionate musicians. The Varga Quartet ranks among the most established chamber music ensembles in Austria and regularly performs on major stages in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and even China. Together with other high-caliber musicians, they allow the well-known original compositions of Katrin and Werner to shine in a whole new, musical, and indeed surprising light.
A dream goes on tour: Already in summer 2024, Katrin and Werner Unterlercher were able to fulfill their symphonic dream. As part of the HerzTakt Festival at the Wilden Kaiser, under the musical direction of Norbert Amon, the premiere of "HARPHONIC" took place. Originally planned as a one-time project, due to its tremendous success, the program is now going on tour. The audience can look forward to thrilling and magical moments, mystical sounds, and completely unexpected symphonic interpretations of the original compositions.
