MITTEN AM RAND - Ein Theaterstück aus unseren Grenzgebieten
Borders confront us everywhere. Some run right next door, along the neighboring plot, for example. Others appear when we look into our wallets. Further ones go straight through our heads and affect our curiosity and openness – or are altogether surmountable in our thoughts. Some borders protect us, others confine us. For people living near the former border between East and West Germany, the word "border" has a different proximity. Memories of political times are present, as well as one of the world's most famous border crossings.
MITTEN AM RAND of Germany, from Lower Saxony, near Thuringia, people from three communities in the Göttingen district have first grappled with their personal border experiences – and then pieced them together again in a theater piece. They have written texts, performed theater, examined their own movement patterns and yearnings, nostalgically and playfully taking a look at the edges of their comfort zones.
