Balkan-Ball Open Air mit Maslband & Bettina Pinkert
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as part of the Schwanen Summer Open Air, the Balkan-Ball Vol. 3 will take place: Under the walnut tree, there will be a Balkan concert, free dancing, and guided Eastern European circle dances – live with the Maslband, featuring accordion accompaniment by Frank Eisele, and dance instruction by Bettina Pinkert (start at 7:00 PM, end at 9:30 PM). Those who feel like moving, sweating, and experiencing that brief feeling of "we are briefly a common circle" are in the right place – whether for the first time or with a dance certificate.
The Maslband has been playing together for many years and draws its repertoire from across Southeast Europe: Roma songs, Klezmer, Sinti swing, dances from Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania. The music changes temperature like the weather in July: cheerful and lively, rhythmically complex, then calm and melancholic – and suddenly driving, as if someone has reconfigured the ground beneath your feet. “Masl” means happiness in Yiddish, and that is exactly how this mix feels: handcrafted, close to the heart, with playfulness and open ears.
Bettina Pinkert guides, step by step, through simple circle dances to get started, and through more complex sequences for those who wish to dive deeper. In between: free dancing, watching, swaying along, taking a quick breath, and diving back in. In case of thunderstorms or heavy rain, the evening will move to the Schwanensaal.
