Farm der Tiere
Based on the novel by George Orwell
Puppet theater, drama, live music
Old Major begins to sing a song: "Animals of England, animals of Ireland, earth animals far and wide, listen to my message of joy from the golden future time..." With this vision of freedom, equality, and brotherhood, the rebellion on the farm begins.
But the utopia quickly crumbles. The pigs take over leadership, claiming milk and apples for themselves and justifying their privileges as leaders. With skillful propaganda and ever-new rules, they solidify their power. Snowball, once the hero of the revolution, is made a scapegoat while the community becomes increasingly authoritarian and mistrustful.
While the animals still sing songs of hope and rejoice in the harvest, the question remains: When should we have awakened and resisted?
Nine puppeteers and musicians bring Orwell's bitter parable to the stage in a sensuous, precise, and compelling manner.
