The evening begins with Gabriel Fauré’s “Pelléas et Mélisande,” Op. 80 – a sequence of melodies from his theatrical music that beautifully conveys the tragic and mystical story from Maeterlinck’s drama in longing musical images. In Alban Berg’s “Seven Early Songs,” Op. 2, alto singer Marianne Kielland can fully showcase her expressive vocal artistry. These songs reflect Berg’s early compositional work and explore profound themes such as love, loneliness, and longing. They thus resonate with Maeterlinck’s motifs in the program. The songs are infused with a shimmering intensity that brings the emotional depth and subtle melodies of the works to life.
The evening concludes with Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90, a work of rare beauty and expressiveness. SUNDAY: FAMILY CONCERT WITH CLASSICS AND CAKE
This symphony concert becomes a grand family Sunday with the Brandenburger Symphoniker! Musician and music educator Bernadett Kis from Berlin introduces children aged 5 and older to the background and special features of Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 3 in F major in a child-friendly and creative way in the Fontane room, while parents, grandparents, uncles or aunts, and siblings listen to the first part of the concert. This gives the younger ones the opportunity to experience the music in a whole new way and to develop a deeper connection to this composition even before the concert. Particularly exciting: During this preparation, the children will meet a musician who not only explains his instrument but also talks about life as a musician.
Thus, classical music becomes lively and tangible!
The younger audience will join in the second part of the concert, after the break for coffee and cake, to hear Symphony No. 3 in F major by JOHANNES BRAHMS, ensuring that each part is age-appropriate and exciting. Duration of the concert including the break: max. 2 hours

Family-friendly is also the new pricing structure for family concerts: If one adult purchases a full-price ticket, up to five accompanying adults pay only 15 euros per ticket. Children and teenagers up to 18 years always pay only 5 euros for all family concerts.
