“Roots of the People – Stories of Ancestral Memories.”

The sounds created by Felipe Duarte are inspired by his journey of reconnecting with indigenous traditions. He was accompanied by various elders who shared their teachings with him and encouraged him to convey these through his work. What is sex? What does love feel like as I grow up? And who am I actually?
Two performers, Franca Rosa von Sobbe and Julika Schlegel, tell and dance stories of self-becoming and reveal puberty as a queer life phase. Between uncertainty and curiosity, between soft tones and colors, a poetic, physical exploration of identity, love, and courage emerges. A dance theater piece about sexual education, curiosity, and what is real.

Tülvistas creates German-speaking dance theater about sexual education for young people. In the intersection of political education and aesthetics, they produce feminist edutainment. The Tülvistas are feminist performance artists, accomplices, and mediators. As door openers, they aim to encourage young people to embark on a curious quest for their own voice, gender, and desires.

Julika Schlegel and Franca-Rosa von Sobbe initiated Tülvistas in 2021. They immersed themselves in the diverse realities of young people: in school halls, theaters, queer youth events, community cultural centers, in black boxes and open-air venues. In addition to performances, they offer workshops on sexual education and empowerment. In 2023, their first performance piece Tülva for audiences aged 14+ received the Kaleidoskop Children’s and Youth Theater Days Hessen Award, presented by the youth jury. Drawing on the political and cultural tensions rooted in her Israeli-German identity, choreographer Smadar Goshen explores resistance not just as a reaction, but as an inherent force of life. From pushing against gravity to confronting the psychological and political dimensions of resistance, the work investigates where acts of strength empower and where they blur the fine line to aggression.

Wrestling, leaning, carrying, holding, letting go, shouting, protesting – throughout the piece, the dancers embody the intersections between the power to resist, the need for control, vulnerability, and desire, constantly forming an intense interplay of power and powerlessness.
