Dreiviertelblut
– The new album and live program of Dreiviertelblut
The Bavarian band Dreiviertelblut released their fifth studio album "Prost Ewigkeit" on May 16, 2025, which celebrated its grand live premiere on May 20, 2025, at the Circus Krone in Munich. Since the band's founding in 2012 by film composer Gerd Baumann and singer Sebastian Horn, Dreiviertelblut has established itself as one of the most distinctive voices in the German-speaking music scene. Their debut album "Lieder vom Unterholz" made a significant impact with critics and fans alike — their biggest hit "Deifedanz" from this record enjoys cult status not only among hardcore fans.
Their profound, poetic lyrics in the Bavarian dialect and genre-defying arrangements give each of their albums a unique, unmistakable character. "Prost Ewigkeit" is no exception: The new songs accompany their listeners on a journey through the highs and lows of human existence. They revolve around love, pain, happiness, intoxication, loss, wisdom, stupidity, and the eternal search — culminating in a journey to the moon.
With "Prost Ewigkeit," Dreiviertelblut, who are typically associated with a penchant for deep Bavarian darkness, strike a hopeful tone with their new songs. In times marked by crises, the band approaches it with their own lightness, from which an insight emerges: That in togetherness, we find security — and in existence, beauty. Because nothing remains and nothing ceases, because everything is trivial and everything is important, they toast to eternity. "In times like these, when the apocalypse feels so close, the album is a plea against sticking one's head in the sand. It is a protest that lies in creating good, thinking good, and projecting good into the future, as everything else would amount to resignation," says Gerd Baumann about the album. And Sebastian Horn adds: "Prost Ewigkeit definitely has the dark side of the Dreiviertelblut nature in it again, but also many facets that shoot beyond this, wanting to go into the light. I would describe the album as a transition from the root being to the ethereal."
From "Nachtross" to "Nichts außer Licht" – the songs from "Prost Ewigkeit" Musically guided by composer Gerd Baumann, the band remains true to their constant urge for musical experimentation: While the Dreiviertelblut sound remains unmistakable, the album surprises with pop elements, a touch of disco, and rich western sounds. The twelve new songs provide a deep glimpse into the world of Dreiviertelblut: In "Nachtross," one gallops through the night with witchy spells. With "Nichts außer Licht," "Immer weida," "Federfiaß," "Dackelmo," and "Auf die Ewigkeit," several particularly quirky examples are added to the category of love songs. And in "Aufn Mond," the protagonist decides on a whim to escape reality by shooting at the moon.
The lyrics, written by Horn and Baumann, are characteristically multilayered: sometimes humorously absurd, sometimes poetically transcendent, the album invites closer listening. On tour in Germany and Austria Dreiviertelblut is known well beyond Bavaria for their captivating live performances. Whether at the JazzOpen Stuttgart, the Heimatsound Festival, or in legendary venues like the Prinzregententheater Munich or the Circus Krone — the seven musicians turn every concert into an unforgettable experience. "Prost Ewigkeit" will be presented live on tour across Germany and Austria in the coming months and will lead the band for the first time to cities including Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, and Freiburg. In Austria, dates are set in Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck.
